  1. You are not the only one! My husband doesn't always want to go, or has no interest in the itinerary so I've gone without him a couple of times. And I have three on the books without him in the next 16 months. Two of them I'll be cabin sharing with a gal I met on a previous cruise and the third is solo. Sometimes time apart is a good thing!

  2. Has anyone had any recent experience getting a renewel? I was wondering how long it takes to get it back? Do they send the old one back with the new one or does it come back before you get the new one?

    Thanks

I just renewed my kids' passports. I did one in May and one in July. Both took about 5-6 weeks to come. My son's old passport arrived about a week after his new one but my daughter's both came on the same day.

  3. I wish you luck with your cruise. We were on the Thanksgiving cruise that left Houston a day late (we actually spent Sat night on the ship). Our itinerary changed dramatically due to the winds. Instead of Cozumel, Roatan then Belize we ended up in Costa Maya Mexico on Tuesday and Cozumel on Thursday and that was it for us. I hope it's better for you!

  4. I can now say from experience that "what happens if you miss Mahogany Bay" depends largely in part as to why you miss it, when they know you will miss it and if there is anything the cruise line can do instead. We had weather delays from the get-go (Thanksgiving week - we left our originating dock a day late) which threw off our whole itinerary. Roatan was cancelled because they knew they wouldn't make it there in time. For us, instead, they hooked us up with a stop in Costa Maya, Mexico which was close enough to get to in time. The morning we were to stop in Belize, it was still too windy to reach the tenders so they cancelled that stop that morning. It became a sea day and they credited us for the port taxes and any ship booked excursions.

  5. On our Thanksgiving cruise (Princess), we headed back to our room to check for our luggage. We ran into our room steward who, as always, greeted us by name and with a smile, asked us how many bags we were waiting on. We told him 2, he then told us good, 2 bags arrived and he had put them in our room for us!

On the same cruise (I was traveling with my elderly mother), we had some good size waves rocking us that night and we were up at the buffet. Mom had put a cup of soup on her plate and we bounced, she lost her balance and spilled. The gal at the entrance to the buffet came right over, got mom a clean plate and offered to accompany her through the buffet holding her plate so mom didn't have to worry about balancing herself and the plate - she carried it all the way to a table for her. I couldn't thank her enough for that!!

  6. DH and I talked about trying a cruise out for our 10th anniversary. We ended up taking a 4-day to Catalina/Ensenada, this was 2000. I've only managed three cruises since, one with DH and the kids in 2007 to Mexican Riviera and Alaska with DH for his birthday earlier this year. And I'll be leaving in 11 days with my 82 year old mother (on her first cruise!) to the Western Caribbean for Thanksgiving. If I could swing it, I would cruise 2-3 times a year!!

  7. Hmmmm just one ????

favorite thing: cant decide so diving, dolphin encounter at Anthonys key and the dune buggy tour with Sandblasters.

favorite meal: ceviche at Pristine Bay or lobster melt at the Lighthouse restaurant in West End Village

favorite see: sunsets on West Bay beach or monkey sitting on my husbands head at Gumbalimba park  hahahahaha

I've read about the lighthouse but this is the first I've seen if the restaurant. Is it safe to assume it's ground level? A lobster melt sounds fabulous! !

  8. I have read through this entire thread :D however I am a bit unclear on something. If you purchase a soda sticker:

    1. As i understand: You can pre-purchase it? Online? And it will be on your card with refillable mugs in your room waiting. To my knowledge you can't pre-pay online but you can call them and yes, when you pickup your card at upon embarkation the sticker will be there and the mug will be in the room.

    2. Clarification needed: It is also good for mocktails and MILKSHAKES? (Husband really wants to know about those)! Are they only in specific places? It depends on which package you purchase. The mocktails and milkshakes are on the Unlimited Soda & More Package. Here is a link to the Gifts & Services form from Princess that shows the choices. Soda packages are on Page 7 http://www.princess.com/learn/onboard/gifts_services/Gifts_Services.pdf

    3. Question: do you have to carry around and use your mug? Or just show your card to get your soda or whatever? From my experience, just show your card.

    4. Question: is club soda considered soda? Is it available? Not sure on this one, you could ask Princess if you call them to pre-pay.

    5. Brand new Question: what brand of sodas do they carry? Pepsi? Coke? Or generic? I'm assuming the whole line carries the same, so it's Coke products.

This would be for sailing on the Star Princess Alaska Cruise.

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

    Hope this helps!

  9. I don't think that site is correct. I will be there on the Magic Christmas 2014 and it's not listed.

It's there except it looks like you're in Belize on Christmas. Try this link for the ship: http://ships.cruisett.com/schedule/Carnival_Cruise_Lines/Carnival_Magic/December_2014/

Or this link for the port: http://ports.cruisett.com/schedule/Honduras/606-Roatan/December_2014/

  10. Just a side note about information in your luggage. It's a fantastic idea but I would never put my home address on the information. Just a security precaution. I use my post box address or my work address along with my cell number.

Chances of anything bad happening because of having your home address is remote. But IMHO better safe than sorry.

I agree, I don't use my home address either, just a name and phone number!!

  11. They do, and it's the saddest sight you'll see on your vacation. Looking down the hall at the sea of suitcases, it means vacation is over. :(

Just make sure you have what you need for the next day in a carry on in your cabin, and put locks on your suitcases, and you'll be all set.

I couldn't agree more - it really is saddest site ever! It means it's time to head back to the reality of work, housework etc ... but to me it also means it's time to start planning the next cruise!! :D

  12. I was on NCL Spirit and was scheduled to dock at MB. High winds forced us to tender at Coxen Hole, X was at the pier.

This is good to know - we're on Princess and there's only one other ship due in Roatan the day we dock there, so should we have problems, we should be able to move over to Coxen Hole!! :D
