  1. Hi all,

Sorry for the delay in reporting back! I was able to get a few of your questions answered, and snap some of the pictures you requested. My colleague, Adam Coulter, also was able to get onboard for the tail end of the trip, so he may be able to chime in with more. Either way, he'll be back onboard June 18 to write the full ship review and can look into anything else we weren't able to confirm this time around.

Please note: As typical with these "media preview" cruises, not everything was fully operational as the ship was still preparing/nailing down some things for the first passenger sailing.

    Some questions answered:

    - There is only one whirlpool on the Yacht Club sun deck.

    - The roof over the Yacht Club sun deck is retractable.

    - Snacks served in the Yacht Club during the day includes fruit cups, parfaits, tarts, mini-sandwiches.

    Pictures:

    - Yacht Club 1: Sun deck with grill forward and to the left. On our sailing, the seating was still being arranged and the benches had not yet been dressed.

    - Yacht Club 2: Cabanas (we were told they'd be moved ahead of the first passenger sailing).

    - Yacht Club 3: The pool and hot tub.

    - Yacht Club 4: Some of the assorted snacks.

    - Promenade: A shot looking down at the Promenade (shops, Eataly and Jean-Philippe Maury's establishments are on Deck 6; the rest of the specialty restaurants, as well as the karaoke lounge and a few bars, are on Deck 7).

We have more than 50 photos of the ship (including some of the kids' spaces, as requested) on our Facebook page. You can check them out, here.

Additionally, in case you missed our live coverage, here's what we reported from the ship last week:

  2. Great questions/requests, so far! I'm taking notes.

Bea, Pete is correct. The cocktail and show is the "standard." If you don't wish to have a cocktail, you can sub it for a nonalcoholic or soft drink. Regardless of which option you choose, though, you'll be required to reserve a seat in advance (either before your cruise or on the ship).

  3. Hi all,

Cruise Critic will be onboard MSC Meraviglia May 31 to June 4, for a sneak peek of the new ship -- which will kick off with cruises in Europe before coming to Miami 2019.

If there are any questions you have, or specific areas you'd like to see, you can start submitting requests now, and we'll do our best to honor them once we're on the ship. :)

We also will be posting live updates to our Facebook, Instagram and Twitter pages (make sure to 'follow' us!), as well as writing a couple news stories and a live blog on what to expect.

    Stay tuned!

    G

  4. Hi all!

This is Gina, the associate editor here at Cruise Critic HQ, and we're trying to get an idea of who would cruise to Cuba. We'd love for you to chime in on the poll, below.

If U.S. cruise ships started calling in Cuba, would you go?

    - Yes, in a heartbeat.

    - Yes, I'd consider.

    - Maybe, it's too soon to tell.

    - No, I don't have the desire.

    Additional comments are welcome!

    Thanks,

    Gina

  5. Hi all,

Gina Kramer, Cruise Critic's Associate Editor, here! I am compiling a list of mistakes that can ruin your cruise and would love to hear your personal accounts.

Have you ever made a mistake while cruising that taught you a valuable lesson -- whether it was your first cruise or something that simply slipped your mind?

A few of us at Cruise Critic HQ have our own, including forgetting a visa in Romania and signing up for a burger-eating challenge. (Hey, we all make mistakes!)

Please share your stories below. I'm looking forward to reading them! :D
