  1. Hi
    I need your advice.

I am booked on the Panama Canal Cruise December 20, 2020 from LA down the Mexican coast thru the Canal and back to FTL.  I know our ports here in South Florida are not open yet but I think the Mexican ports are.. I don;t think LA port is open yet.

I am bored out of mind and want to do something over the holidays.  Yes I know I live in Ft. Lauderdale and will be where a lot of people wish to be.............lol  Our % of virus is way down to less than 5%. I predict if after 14 days if there is not a spike after the Labor Day holiday weekend we will move into phase 2.
I want to plan a trip somewhere over the holidays once I decide what to do about this cruise. Our final payment is not until Oct 21. I want to start to look at places to go like maybe the Caribbean or even Mexico as much as I hate Mexico but don;t want to waste my time looking. Thought I might look for a resort all inclusive where i don;t have to go anywhere but relax. I asked my cruise planner at Princess and she has no idea and I asked her if it was selling and she said a little.
    Here is my question.
Do you think based on where the cruise is going do you think it will go? I am not asking if you think cruises will go by my travel date. I am asking based on where the cruise is going do you think it will go?

Thank you in advance for your kindness and advice
    Kathy

I would rebook for a later date as i do not think the cruise will go We pushed our panama cruise from march 2021 all the way to 2022 If i was looking for a vacation right now i would look into the all inclusive resorts located on several caribbean islands some of these have reopened or will be open sooner than cruising

  2. Hi we were in window suite to hawaii plusses are suite benefits, close to international cafe, lovely sized room, great steward I loved it But my husband missed the balcony and 2 tvs that mini-suites and other full suites have. There are several large picture windows but no balcony

  3. I just was looking into booking an Alaska cruise next July and was surprised that an $800 deposit was required instead of the $200 for the two of us.
Now we have FCD's that we would use but that only gives us $100 each towards the deposit.
    When did the deposit increase?

I noticed an increase in deposits when the new caribbean cruises were released However your FCD should cover the entire deposit required in my experience

  4. Can someone  tell me if PRINCESS transfers people  to there hotel when they arive at 1:50 am. Or do they wait around at the airport for a later transfer time?

We did this trip a couple years ago our flight arrived around midnight and there was a shuttle waiting for us to take us to the hotel (not far from airport) i believe i read that if your plane arrives very late and there is no shuttle, princess will reimburse taxi fare This was a wonderful trip and Fairbanks was delightful

  5. We are booked for Mar 23 to Apr 20 and always thought it would be COVID problems that would prevent this sailing.  i hope the transfer to Regal will be after this.
BTW we love Beagles also and the one in my avatar is #6.  There's no other kind of dog!  haha.

We have been on the Grand twice and love that ship We also like the bigger ships like majestic and regal just to be sailing again would be heaven Beagles are the sweetest little guys We have one chubby beagle and one thinner one Lucy & Molly are the best

  6. Of course after I booked air and excursions the ship gets changed.  Got the notice earlier today.  We are booked on May 9 and waiting to see what cabin we will get assigned and am hoping everything gets transferred easily.  It said after July 10 our TA will get an email.  Crossing my fingers. Better than getting a notice of cancellation for sure.

I was able to get our new booking number when i called princess then you can input the booking number when you search for a booked cruise and you can see your new booking and make new flight reservations

  7. I am so bummed about this change from the Grand to the Regal. I loved the way they spun this news to make it sound like its the best thing since sliced bread.  I also just checked and do not see any Panama Canal Transit on the Grand.  It will be most interesting to see what their plans for the Grand Princess really are.

Perhaps the Grand has been sold?

  8. Princess may well go “under” as they are alienating a large number of their regular clientele The last couple of times i called princess the reps were rude and dismissive i love cruising for so many reasons I always thought cruising was great for folks who are older, retired, and may have stamina or mobility issues I am very disheartened by these guidelines from princess as i am 72 and have heart issues I don’t mind jumping thru a couple of hoops to comply but i would not forge anything I am thinking that cruise lines with smaller ships may be more accommodating than princess and i may go with them if princess is too restrictive

  9. "A proposal submitted to the White House Tuesday by CLIA, the leading cruise trade organization, would deny cruise boarding to any person over 70 unless they are able to present a doctor's note verifying their fitness for travel."

    https://www.usatoday.com/story/travel/cruises/2020/03/11/proposal-white-house-cruise-industry-bar-people-70-ships/5020325002/

That idea does not make sense it is not people over 70 who are causing this problem it is the virus along with how it spreads and how the cruise lines are handling it They should have a moratorium on cruising in the usa now for a set period of time i am a long time cruiser since 1989 and i have always appreciated being on a ship and traveling from port to port As i age i like it even more I do not plan to cruise for at least several months or until this pandemic is over But i want to cruise again BTW isn't this age discrimination?

  10. I’m curious if your ex had an issue with the cruise before all of this COVID19 stuff began? If he has been reasonable up to this point, you may consider how you would feel if the tables were turned and you had concerns about a trip he was planning with your daughter and he still took her against your wishes. I personally would have a very hard time keeping an amicable coparenting relationship if my child’s other parent disregarded me and took them into a situation where I was worried they may get sick or quarantined.

Whether or not to cancel a trip you’ve been excited about is a tough decision and I wish you the best whatever you decide.

We are long time cruisers and love being on a ship at sea We have some cruises booked for the future but I would not be cruising now. Too risky and we do not want to be in a quarantine situation far away from home.

  11. The new offer is “Get a one-time $150 statement credit by using your enrolled Card to spend $750+ on cruise line sailings with Carnival, Holland America, Princess, Seabourn, or Cunard by 10/15/2018.” This is on my Blue Cash Card.

Here’s more information “Offer valid only for reservations booked between 09/05/18 and 10/15/18 with (1) Carnival Cruise Line at Carnival.com or phone 1-800-764-7419, (2) Holland America Line at Hollandamerica.com or phone 1-877-932-4259, (3) Princess Cruises at Princess.com or phone 1-800-774-6237.

It looks like it’s only for a NEW Reservation. What do other people think?

    Tom

I was able to get the offer by paying $750 of amount due on existing cruise (not new one)

  12. You can try buying a gift card & using that for OBC. It worked once for us, once it didn't trigger offer.

I added the offer last night then went to one of my already booked cruises and paid $750 towards amount due I got an email from amex saying “great news you just used your amer ex offer for $150 cash back at princess cruises”
