We stopped in Nanaimo as the first port last year in October. Was quite funny to my family as we took the ferry over to board the ship. Everyone we spoke to was impressed with Nanaimo & the tours.Speaking of Nanaimo. The city has a new and pretty nice cruise ship terminal. However it did not catch on. A few of these re-positioning cruises do call in Nanaimo however the number is in sharp decline. Perhaps today it is one or two visits per season. I did it one on an NCL cruise from LA to Vancouver.Sent from my SM-T377W using Forums mobile app

We did the same last October, had a dry erase board to leave messages for our two teen children. Worked perfectly. Plus made finding our cabins so easy [emoji6]We cruised over Easter, multi-generational, and I purchased seven magnetic wipe off boards for all the family members' cabins. It was a great way to 'decorate ' for the Holiday, as we posted 'Happy Easter' along with some ( not so good ) artwork. Better yet, it was a great way to communicate - we would write 'Good Morning' to let the grandkids know we were awake and ready for visitors! It allowed us to meet up with others in our family by writing a quick note on the door to let them know where we were heading off to.I found these magnetic boards at a dollar type store and they each came with two magnets that came in handy inside the cabins as well.
My suggestion is to do whatever makes your cruise more enjoyable for you!

Last year we did Vancouver to LA & since our first stop was Nanaimo, our custom stop was in Seattle. It was no problem for myself & kids we just went off to explore. Hubby had a spa appointment & there was a huge delay in getting everyone back on ship. He said there were numerous elderly passengers upset, as they hadn't taken extra medication with them. Expecting it to be a quick process. Ended up being nearly 5 hours.

Haha no worries. Thank you for all the info ☺Good catch on that one xlxo - I could have sworn that Pickwicks died before 2013.OP - please also ignore reference to the Fish Counter in my prior post. I was thinking of Go Fish when I first wrote the post, but used the name of the Fish Counter (which is an excellent venue but it's over on my side of town, way too far up Main to be useful to you!) - how I managed to remember the actual name in time to edit the post, but not realize I should just change the name...? That I'll just have to chalk up to a total brain-fart.

Thank you, so much info. I honestly don't remember much other than the food was amazing, and it had about 10-15 tables hubby said. Rectangle in shape. Looks like there are lots of dining options, so we won't starve before we board ☺

Hubby & I stayed at the Sylvia before a cruise in 2013 and came across an amazing little fish & chip spot. I've been searching for it with no luck. Any Vancouver experts know the one I am talking about, or know if it's still open? Open to new recommendations in the area. Cruising in October & booked at the Sylvia pre cruise again ☺ thank you
