  1. I have also heard that the aft elevator is out of commission. I sure hope it is fixed by the time we embark on our cruise, as my hubby has a knee problem which means that he can't walk too far. I picked the back of the ship for the access to all the aft services which also includes Skywalker's Lounge. Princess needs to get on this!

  2. We also got a ridiculously low airfare from Sydney to YVR from EZAir. They did change it a few weeks ago from a 21 hour, 2 flight journey to a 14 hour direct flight home to Vancouver. They did not notify us, but when I went in to check only then did I see it. Obviously definitely in our favour. So, it can go both ways. :D:D:D

  3. We are taking the Princess shuttle from our 6:15 a.m. flight from Vancouver, arriving at 9:13 a.m. in L.A. in September of this year. I figured we have plenty of time to get to San Pedro and weather etc.,. should be good for flying in September. So booked Princess shuttle just in case. If I remember rightly it was $42 pp. Well worth it if flying in same day and saves on hotel, etc.,.

  4. Keeping in mind that there are numerous TD Visa Infinite Cards, the current Cardholder Agreement for our card, the Aeroplan Infinite Visa, clearly says 4 days for over 65, 21 days if under 65. Where did you hear that it was only three days, I'd like to check that out as it will apply to me in a few years. Thanks.

My card is the TD Visa Infinite Avion Card.

    • Our Visa card (TD Infinite) covers out of country medical insurance for 21 days if you book your vacation/travel using the card. This applies to all people booked up tp 65 years of age. The card covers above 65 years coverage for 4 days. You can top up additional days as required if needed.

I was told coverage over 65 for only 3 days.

  5. I have just coordinated our M & G for a cruise on the Golden sailing on September 23rd. So, not true that you have to wait until on board to book this. Email direct to contact in list noted above.

  6. For me, it is not so much that anyone would steal your bag, it's more that every time you give your bags away to someone, you take the risk of a mistake being made (human error) or just quite simply losing them. If you are able bodied and can manage these bags and for quickness sake, we always take our bags off ourselves. It's one less thing to worry about. I worked with the cruise lines and bags do get "lost" more often than you know!

  7. It depends. Is the cruise sold in smaller pieces? ie two 14 days legs? Or is it only sold as one cruise? If the latter, then only one cruise credit if you are not in a suite and not solo. We took the 28 day South Pacific cruise last fall. It can only be booked as a 28 day cruise, so we got 1 cruise credit. On the other hand, last spring we took a 28 day TA and Med cruise. It cold be booked as a 28 day cruise or as 17 and 11 day cruises. We booked as one cruise and got 2 cruise credits.

Thanks for this explanation. My cruise LA to Sydney can be booked in different parts. So, I take it I will get 2 cruise points for this. Good to know.

  8. We are a Scottish couple and we were on a cruise and we met up with a large group of US vets, originally from New York who asked us to join them at dinner. What a fun group they were and every night we had to move and go around this large table and converse with another one of these couples. I guess they liked our accents. They were a good 10 to 15 years older than us , but could also teach us a thing or two on the dance floor until late at night. Great cruise.

  9. I prefer Princess. I like MUTS, the self serve laundrette and the small pool at the back of the ship. Price is also a factor. Sometimes you think you are getting a deal with NCL but in reality you are still paying. I also like the food on Princess. They are all running some pretty good deals at the moment. Competition is good for the cruiser!

  10. Actually not all gamblers smoke. Where Im from there is a province-wide indoor smoking ban so the casinos are all smoke free and still packed.

The issue is one cruise line trying to do it because then, yes you risk losing that percentage of your business that smokes. Which would be a diminishing segment but significant all the same.

If it was an across the board ban that all lines had to enforce then the silly comments about empty casinos would disappear.

Bans wont happen though. But what will is pretty getting smarter and not smoking in the first place and in time the smoking population shrinking to the point it makes more sense to alienate that segment to make the larger segment happy.

The seemingly offended remarks from smokers is a bit funny. All the smokers I know fully accept that they are stupid for smoking and wish they had never started in the first place.

Now wouldn't this be great. Hope I'm still around for this. I haven't met one person who has stopped smoking who regrets it. It is a very difficult thing to do though (speaking from experience) and most smokers are afraid of stopping big time, but it is possible. There are also so many more smoking cessation aids than there used to be. There is no longer any justification for continuing to smoke in public places. More education around this issue would be extremely helpful too.
