  1. Is Cozumel a port you can get off of and walk around, shop , eat? Are beaches within walking distance? Trying to figure out which ports to do excursions in. Can't afford all of them. We are going to Cozumel, Belize, Roatan and Cosa Maya. Any suggestions on what ports to book at is appreciated.

  2. I am going on my first Carnival cruise in 3 weeks. I went on my very first cruise to Alaska on Princess last summer. That cruise was anything but stuffy. Just saying. We went during July 4rth and there were tons of families. I booked that cruise 2 months in advance and got that for $399. I'm going to eastern Caribbean and it cost us $429 - so more for Carnival than Princess. It's even cheaper now ...at $319. But that's the gamble you take. Saphire Princess was a gorgeous ship and the food was incredible. In fact I had one of the best meals of my LIFE in Sabatini's that cruise. Plus there was so much going on each nite you just couldn't do it all. It got me hooked on cruising and I can not WAIT to see Carnival Freedom. I mean think about it. 8 day cruise for $429.. that's $53 a day for place to sleep, food and entertainment. Plus all the ports you see. If you don't have a great time ..... it's your own fault :) And trashy means different things to different people. Some people think red lipstick is trashy. I'll be the one wearing it :)

  3. We went on Princess last summer to Alaska. Only 2 ships a day are allowed in Glacier Bay. Out of 14 spots a week - Princess gets 8 of those spots. Glacier bay can only be seen from the water. It is an incredible jaw dropping experience. If you do this on whatever ship you go on make sure when you enter the bay - we entered around 4:30 am you are in the front outside of the ship. The whales are at the mouth of the bay to feed and we saw hundreds of whales, whale spouts, tail fins, breaching. It was a memory I will never forget. There were maybe 200 of us up at that time to witness this. It was a magnificent morning!

  4. Last year our cruise to Alaska was our first cruise. I read reviews here and on Trip Advisor for excursions and went with excursions NOT booked through the cruise ship and had no problems. It was cheaper too. Just do your research. We are going to the Caribbean in a few weeks and every excursion I booked I found online and not worried at all. Have a blast whatever you decide :)

  5. We went to Alaska On Princess last July 4rth week. It was warm in Vancouver but on the ship you'll be chilly. The pools were pretty much empty of Adults - kids will swim in any weather. I never saw anyone ever in swimsuits sunning themselves. And if you are going to Glacier Bay that is a cold day - like winter cold. I'm from Minnesota so 50 degrees is wonderful to me. But not so much for warmer climate people :) Bring your swimsuit but don't be disappointed if you don't get to use it :)

  6. I'm the opposite of you. Cruised Alaska last year on Saphire Princess and now trying Carnival Freedom in 3 weeks. Saphire is a gorgeous ship. I loved the food and ate at a different dining room each night. We ate at Santorinis one formal night. The best meal of my life and I'm a food snob. The atrium is lovely and they always have entertainment. Loved the piano player. We enjoyed all the shows we went to. We just loved the ship. Now we are trying Carnival and it has alot to live up to!
