  1. Hello All,

My fiance and I will be cruising on the Harmony of the Seas for our wedding in July, 2018. We will be sailing out of Ft. Lauderdale and then having our wedding in St. Thomas through Island Bliss Weddings. We are so excited but looking to see what others have planned too! Are there any other RCCL brides on here that have looked into hair and makeup options on the ship?

Hey there, Congrats. We are also booked through Island Bliss. How many guests do you have? Did you pick a venue yet? We just had to have our dates changed due to the cruise changing itinerary from the hurricanes.

  2. Yes Carnival offered a full refund and asistance with flights. I am looking at rescheduling in July 2018. My prayer is St. Thomas is ready for weddings by July. We had 43 guest paid and our list has dropped considerably.

I'm praying as well, carnival did the right thing, but it still doesn't take away from the grief caused by this horrible situation. The day the hurricane hit I emailed the vendor making my invitations and I asked if they did not finish them could they please put them on hold until further notice. The response was we are so sorry you should receive them any day now, of course the next day my invitations came in and I'm like great now what did I do with these, 600 down the drain. Did you book your wedding through your cruise or through an island vendor? I'm honestly so scared to move forward here.

  3. My wedding was officially booked almost 2 years ago, however the plans were in process way before we booked. Our ship was scheduled to visit the Eastern Caribbean March of 2018. I have seen so many cruise lines changing their itinerary due to the damage suffered on some of the islands from Irma/Maria, however the NCL Gem itinerary has not yet been changed. I'm afraid to proceed with my plans since my wedding is in St. Thomas, which I know suffered extensive damage, but I also can't start working on new plans because I have no idea where we will be going. I'm just stuck with a whole bunch of I don't knows

  4. so.....89 passengers booked, 12 to go, my TAgot the news the ship is going into dry dock:mad::loudcry: I know things happen, but MONTHS of planning down the drain. I now have to contact ALL mygueststo talk about changes and tons of other stuff. In the meantime...I've been researchingMajesty for over a year. They will move us to enchantment. Anyone have advice, pictures, stories from weddings through this ship? This also means the wedding is on the last day of the cruise. Any advice on that?

So sorry to hear that. I have my wedding planned for march in St Thomas and recently found out our cruise ship may no longer be stopping there. I am so sad.

  5. Congrats to all. It's so nice to see the 2018 thread filling up. I'm booked on NCL March 2018 and we went with an island coordinator in St Thomas. I really haven't had much to do, my planner has been taking care of everything so far. It's not confirmed for sure yet but tentatively my wedding begins at 11am and ends at 3pm. The ship departs at 6pm. From 3 to 5 my guests can browse the island if they choose to. I was also thinking about having a dinner that night in one of the specialty restaurants back on the ship and then maybe going to one of the nightclubs afterwards to dance the night away.

  6. Hello!

After a year of engagement (and a year of convincing...) my fiance and I decided to do a cruise wedding! After a lot of research, I think we're going to do a group cruise out of NYC on Norwegian. With that being said - does anyone have any Norwegian cruise line tips, wedding tips, or experiences? We're mainly trying to figure out WHERE/HOW to get married. I'd love to hear about where exactly you got married on Norwegian cruises (links to reviews would be great too!)

    TIA!

    Hi Tia,

Congrats, I am also a bride cruising on NCL out of NYC. We wed in 2018. We are not getting married through the ship, because their wedding package just does not suit us. We are getting married on St. Thomas through an Island coordinator. Aside from it's beautiful beaches we chose St. Thomas because its U.S. Territory, making the actual marriage process a little easier. We do not have to get married in court prior to leaving for our vacation. We can do everything on the island that day. I would suggest start with looking out the cruises that leave out of NYC. We don't have as many options as NCL ships leaving from Florida. Select the itinerary that you like, then Pick a ship you like, then narrow down the months that you like, or vice versa. It will be a lot simpler then you think. We chose spring because it's still chilly here and well the fall is hurricane season, and summer in NYC is already hot, we didn't want to leave the heat to go into the heat. I have consultant through NCL I can email you his information. He is absolutely great answers all of my questions anytime of day, he is really great.

    Best of Luck

  7. Just have a few minor details to decide on before I book my 2018 wedding on the Conquest. I'm extremely excited :)

Sent from my iPhone using Forums

Yes, that is the most exciting part, the part when your getting everything together before you book. Good luck, lets us know the details.

We booked an aft vista suite on Ruby Princess to Alaska in June 2018. Planning to get married in Juneau with 20 or so of our friends and family. Time to start the countdown!

Congrats, that sounds absolutely amazing, you wedding is going to be beautiful, do you have any plans figured out yet?

  8. Hi.

First thank you to all of you who have shared your information regarding getting married on a cruise ship.

I am beyond confused as I just started this search in the past week and there is so much information to absorb.

    Here is our situation:

From LA or San Diego area, a 4-6 night cruise with approx 20-30 guests

We have both been married before, between the two of us there are 9 children and 4 grandchildren.

We want to get married AT SEA - not in a port.

We dont want a bunch of people at the wedding as we have been engaged 11 years and finally decided to pull the trigger :)

Finally, we dont want a separate reception. As long as we can all eat together, we would be happy!

    SO Here is my question:

    1. Do I look for a person to marry us (pay for their trip) and just do something on our own on the deck (we want it outdoors)?

    2. Do we look at vow renewal packages and secretly not tell family that we weren't really married at sea?

    3. Will we be able to bring on flowers, decor, etc?

    4. Will the large suites hold 10-15 for a champagne toast?

ANY other thoughts and/or questions are welcome

    TIA

    Hi TIA,

Congrats, ok so you do not have to look for a person to marry you, there are cruise lines that do marriages at sea. I know Princess cruise line does legal at sea marriages. Each cruise line has their own set of rules. You also could get legally married at your local city hall and then do a symbolic at sea marriage and you do not have to tell your family no one would know the difference. You can bring décor, but no live flowers they must be fake. The mini suites and lower cabins will not hold 10 - 15 people. Depending on the cruise ship the Upper suites can hold 10 - 15 people. Some cruise lines have a designated area for a ceremony, Champaign toast, along with a luncheon. I must say the options are very wide. All the best, Good luck.

  9. Not a bride but a groom checkin in lol.

Waiting for 2018 Europe itineraries to pop up for Royal Caribbean. Then the real planning begins! I've read a lot of negative reviews of RCCL Weddings so I'm a bit nervous....

Congrats Groom, don't be shy we welcome all around here. I'm pretty sure I have read both good and bad reviews for RCCL. My best advice would be to really read between the lines see what the major complaints are and see if you can tolerate them or possible work around them. Wedding planning in itself is a bit of a hassle. All the best and good luck keep reading and ask lots of questions. FYI the best review that I read was from a groom he planned his Bahama wedding and provided us with lots of helpful information.

    =) Crystal

LOL Crystal, it's ok, I gave serious thought to flying undercover here as my secret identity of Ashley hehe. :)

I think I have him convinced on the passport invite :) YAY!

25 days now and I'll be on the Fantasy... Its way far away til my wedding but I don't really see myself doing this again before the wedding, and I highly doubt I'll have a real bachelorette so I'm kinda looking at this as my unofficial fun bachelorette cruise!

lololol April, love that idea incognito. How did your girls weekend booze cruise go?

  10. What is everyone planning to do for wedding favors? I was planning on doing Champaign with glittered bottles and personalized labels. After reading the NCL thread I was informed that NCL no longer allows any liquids to be brought onboard. So there goes my plan of using Champaign as favors. I feel like the favor needs to be really nice since family and friends are traveling and spending a lot of money for our wedding.

    Thanks

    <3 Crystal

  11. I was hoping I get some input on a wedding in St. Thomas at Lime Tree Beach. I want to book the wedding separate from the cruise. So I found Island Mike, Officiant (http://stthomasweddingofficiant.com) who has some packages. Has anyone use him? Also a wedding at Lime Tree: has anyone got married there? What did you do for a reception? Pros or Cons? Any and all information would be great! Thank you in advance!

Hi, Congrats on planning a wedding. I am also planning a St. Thomas wedding. I am using Janelle of Islandblissweddings. I have heard of other island coordinators, but never anything about Island Mike. Janelle does have packages that you can book on Lime Tree Beach, I think you can either have a reception on the beach or make some other arrangements such as traveling to a restaurant after the ceremony.

    Good Luck

    Crystal

  12. At first it seemed like a great idea, but as the time goes on, the anxiety comes along with it. We are booked on a cruise for 2018 and we invited all of our wedding guest to cruise with us for 11 days. The choice was made because we needed a cruise that would depart locally and our only choices were 10 or 11 day cruises. We are not getting married aboard the ship, were getting married on St. Thomas through an Island coordinator. We are happy with our decision but we also said to ourselves, that we needed to be understanding to those whom will not be able to make it for multiple reasons. The truth is regardless where you have your wedding (unless you live in the same town as your relatives) you will be traveling, might as well make it memorable. Weddings are an expense for everyone. You should definitely cater to those you want there the most. My parents don't fly, so for me it was out of the question to have a wedding that required flying. I have a lot of family that is planning to fly to St. Thomas, because either they can't take off two weeks from work, or they don't like cruising (mind you they have never been on a cruise), or for many different reasons. As the time gets closer (haha I know I have a year and 3 months to go) I do worry about keeping my guests happy or entertained throughout the length of the cruise and question will be spending enough time with them. On our wedding website we did mention that we are only asking for one day, our wedding day and that they should treat the rest of the cruise as their own personal vacation. I think a long cruise is fine you just have to prepare yourselves for family and friends declining to attend.

  13. We are getting married, summer/fall of 2018, it's never too early

I might be late to the party on this thread, but my FH and I have recently decided on a Summer (or maybe Fall) 2018 cruise wedding. Right now we're leaning towards a NCL ship sailing out of NYC, but we're waiting for the itineraries to be posted before we make any decisions.

    So, hello y'all. :)

We will also being doing a wedding cruise in Spring 2018 since the fall is hurricane season and already so busy for our family.

We're looking at Celebrity because we want the wedding done by the Captain.

Congrats all, 2018 is getting closer and closer. Keep us posted along your journey

  14. Congrats Jamea and Edward, I must say it is a little challenging coming up with the wording for a land based cruise wedding. We did a magnet from Etsy, with some photos and the dates and out wedding website. We also sent a business card with the cruise info on it.

Save the Date and sail with us

    "Actual wedding date"

Jamea and Edward are tying the knot

    "Nassau, Bahamas"

Join us aboard the "cruise line"

Setting sail from Jacksonville FL to the Bahamas

    June 8-12 , 2017

For more Information please visit our website : http://www.bahamastakeover2017.com

Were pretty much just trying to get the most information in the shortest way possible on our save the dates, however the bulk of your information will be on your website. Wish you all the best.

  15. CruisinBlondie28 that is awesome. I don't think Carnival offers the 'at sea' wedding choice but I def would have considered it! I really didn't want to do a port because I didn't want anyone to miss what the ports had to offer. St. Maarten is one of my all time favorite ports and that itinerary is great. Congrats on already having 31 booked! Side note: My wedding is also on the 28th... of April though. :) lol I read your second post wondering if I missed we were date twins... but it was a no go.

So its only in discussion mode, but I really really want to change our invites to the passports on Vanessas Destination Wedding Passports site. They are SO AMAZING. My FH is stuck on wanting to do full size message in a bottles. I love the message in a bottle idea (It was mine after all) but the more I think about the more of a pain the ass it sounds like and the mock ups we've done have been kind of "EHHH" PLUS shipping costs to those we don't see every day, and the fact that I'd rather mail then hand deliver..... sigh

I'm still working on convincing him so I ordered a sample one off etsy... wish me luck!

ETA: 35 days until my GIRLS WEEKEND BOOZ CRUISE!!!!! yay!!!!

Wooohooo for the boozecruise.... It's so hard picking the right invitation, I love the message in a bottle but it is sooooo much work. Vanessa's passport invites are really beautiful, your going to have a tough decision. I guess you will have to weigh the pros and cons for him. You might have a chance of the passport invites come up Cheaper. Good luck

  16. @Jac if I was doing an 11 day cruise I'd probably have already sent them out too already. That definitely takes some extra planning for most people! :) (side note: Maybe it's because I took my name off my signature but it's April though I DO like the name Ashley. I had a girl call me Abbie once for the longest and I never corrected her she was so mad I didn't LOL)

April, oh my goodness I'm so sorry...lol... Where in the world did I come up with this name? I promise I usually don't go around renaming people. Please forgive me 🙈.

  17. Hey hey Crystal! I was just thinking the same the other day! Time is flying!!!! I was going to, but I still have not sent out the save the dates yet though. It just seems so early. I think Ive decided to wait until February, which still give people a year and two months.

Ive been working on some DIY projects when I get some free time. Just decorated our sand ceremony jar .. . Attaching before and after pics. And I know its crazy but I already said yes to the dress... lol no judgement.

Hi Ashley, I honestly did send my save the dates quite early, but I really just wanted to give everyone enough time to book and save. since it was a magnet save the date I figured it's on their fridge they can see it everyday. I love your DIY project, the jar is perfect and your creativeness is perfectly adorable. No judgements at all coming my way, I say you find a dress you love, jump on it. Congratssssss.

We are in the same boat we are getting married in June of 2018. Not sure exactly what we want to do, but cruising (and probably Ziplining) will,be a part of it. Very excited. We are on the Sept 19 Alaska inside passage, then Stay on for the Sept 30 Panama Canal and end in Miami on the Norweigian Sun!

Congrats SandS14, it seems so far but believe me the time flies. An Alaskan wedding sounds soooo amazing please spill the details as you figure out your plans.

Our contract got approved today! So I guess it is official, we will be getting married on board the Royal Caribbean Harmony of the Seas on 1/28/2018 (a sea day!) We have 31 sailing guests already booked and a little over 500 days to go!

Congrats CruisinBlondie28, isn't it so exciting, and omg you have a great amount of people booked already, that is awesome.

  18. It's been awhile since the last I've spoke. I got to travel to Chile with my college for a mission trip and LOVED it. I successfully convinced my man to go to Chile instead of Alaska for our second cruise after our honeymoon. However we have been considering doing a back to back cruise for our honeymoon. Has anyone ever done one? Instead of 5 days we thought two weeks would be better back to back. Any thoughts or suggestions?

I have wanted to do a back to back, and I have friends that do them all the time. Do it! Which cruise line goes to Chile? That would be cool too! Glad you got that experience... back in the 90s I did two mission trips in Belize. They were amazing experiences

Keisia that is wonderful, I can't even imagine what a great experience that must have been, and how great is it that you also were able to do a mission trip Ashley. The cruise we booked for our wedding is practically two weeks (11 days) so while I would loveeee to do a back t back cruise it's not looking good. I kind of still think we would all need a honeymoon, yes we are cruising for our wedding but with family and friends, that's not much for alone time. Is it not crazy how fast time is going, I remember booking my cruise and saying OMG it's two years away. Now it's 1 year and 8 months, the time is flying. I am almost done sending out my save the dates and we have had a few bookings so I'm excited about that.

  19. I wonder if they will add a 'gratuity fee" on the 'free gratuities"

LOL, thanks for the laugh of truth. I booked my cruise back in march for $1,899 per person, it is currently $2,199 per person we choose the "not so free at sea" package of UBP along with the specialty dining. The promo fee charge totaled $309. The promo now is either Free dining with UBP or Free open bar with pre paid service charge for a fee of $284.40. I didn't see an option to only select one unless you have booked an inside stateroom. Either way not much of a savings.
