I’m currently on Holland America’s Nieuw Statendam, thanks to a heavily discounted casino offer for a slot tournament. I simply could not turn down a 1 in 400 chance of winning $100K, and I’m really sorry that I’ve strayed.
Virgin has really spoiled me with its excellent food and friendly service.

I can’t even get something as a simple as a lemonade brought to my table at the buffet before I’m done eating.

If I was paying full price, I’d be pissed. Maybe that explains the grumpiness Ive noticed from other guests.

Have you seen any decent payouts on Virgin on the slots on Virgin?

  2. We rented a scooter that is supposed to be delivered to our cabin on embarkation day.

I was told by MSC that we will have a wide door because we booked in the Yacht club.

    Thanks for all you replies.

  3. I did talk to a sales person who tried to find out information. I was on hold with him for quite a while and when he came back he said the scooter can be left outside the door.  Maybe with extension cord?

  4. We are leaving on a cruise on Seascape on Sunday.  My husband is scheduled to have a hip replacement and has difficulty walking.  His pain became a lot worse well after we booked the cruise.  Does anyone know how difficult it would be to get around the ship, including the casino on a scooter?  Or would it be better to use a walker.  I have been having a lot of trouble reaching anyone at MSC.

    Thanks for any information!

  5. We are cruising on MSC Seascape later this month.  I know this has been discussed but will someone please explain this to me.  I read that there is no charge if we use cash not a credit card for playing slots.  Does this mean we have to bring all funds we think we may need to gamble?  Can we withdraw money with are ship card to use in the casino without a charge.  I'm feeling a little dense on this subject.

Vertical motion (bouncing) will be most pronounced at the front AND back of the ship.  Since the ship does not bend (appreciably), picture a rod going horizontally through the middle of the ship near the water line and the ship rotating about the rod - when the bow goes up, the stern goes down.  While forward facing balconies are forward, they are less forward than many of the lower deck interior or ocean view cabins.

Side-to-side motion (rocking) will be most pronounced on upper decks.  This would be rotation about a rod from bow to stern.  The upper decks move much further than lower decks.

Forward facing can have a lot of wind, particularly while underway.

Will you be cruising in an area more subject to rough seas, like the North Atlantic, or are you inside the Mediterranean where high seas are less common?

Just returned from an 11-night sail on Connie (yesterday).  Asked the cabin attendant to remove the minibar items.  He said "don't worry about it".  I checked our account daily on the app.  It was always correct and when we left the ship, it was correct.  We only had 2 charges since we had a drink package and prepaid excursions.  When we returned home the final invoice had minibar charges added. I emailed Celebrity and will notify AMEX if Celebrity does not respond.

If someone could please post a picture of the card with minibar prices, that might help some of us defend our minibar case.  It was in the drawer above the refrig.  Who knows, maybe everyone should take a picture of it in case the same thing happens to you.

BTW--Connie had a big Noro/Covid breakout during the last half of our voyage.  They went strictly to crew serving everything, including the knife, fork, and napkin bundles.  It was never announced on what the numbers were.  We didn't catch anything, but we always steer clear of the crowds and use our balcony for outside time (no Edge class ships for us).  We had to fill out notices as we left, answering questions about if anyone in our cabin felt sick.  Reading follow-on Connie reports, they had to have a Hazmat team deep clean the ship and have a CDC health inspection.  Boarding was delayed many hours and travelers had a "not so nice" first day experience.

The good news, we finally made Elite Plus on this cruise.  😎

Why do you say "(no Edge class ships for us)"?  We are on our first Edge ship soon.
