If you can afford it/or get a good rate, 'The Banff Springs Hotel' is the fanciest and very enjoyable.
Same with 'The Rimrock'.
I dont believe there are any really bad places to stay in Banff, just a variety of prices.
Buffalo Mountain Lodge is nice.
The hotels along the main street are simple, clean and effective.
