For a transatlantic Nov 2023 cruise Viking is about double what my Celebrity Always included TA .
is Viking twice as good ?
In my opinion they are, but I’m older and pickier.

If you have considered moving from Celebrity due to the drop in quality, which lines did you consider as a replacement?
We have been with Viking a few times and loved them. Were on Constellation starting March 6 and found our balcony stateroom looking quite sad. The food was OK but there was a lack of staff to serve and they were rushing around. We were told that Viking took many of them.
The real downside was that Covid ran rampant, as did Norovirus. We were to be on a back-to-back but had to leave in Tampa after the first leg. Missed our flight home due to a delay in getting passengers off the ship.
We had been on Viking in 2022 for 4 weeks and stayed healthy.
Enough said.

I would try to upgrade to Biz /Premium class even for the 3hr flight
JMO. Not us. Besides Rouge is all one class.

We used to book cruises with Viking and were always pleased until the last time. We had no idea that Easter, Passover and Ramadan were all at the same time in 2022. We normally fly economy and paynextra for aisle seats. We also ALWAYS use a travel agent. Unfortunately nobody foresaw these three holidays coming together and we were stuffed like sardines into a Lufthansa 747. Other than that we have had no problems because our TA is a friend and is always there.
We’ve purchased air for our Celebrity cruise in March. The airline is Air Canada Rouge out of Toronto, but is only a three hour flight. We have paid for aisle seats and will manage well. -
My husband and I will be on Connie March 6 -27. We’ve spent the last 10 years with Viking and loved it. However, we wanted to spend more than 10 days cruising the Caribbean, something Viking doesn’t do. We booked back to back cruises from Tampa and are looking forward to the sunshine. We were on Connie 14 years ago and look forward to it again.
Being older than Boomers we intend to wear masks around the ship. Although fully vaccinated, we’ve managed to avoid covid so far and would like to continue.- 2

I don’t get why people are so upset with daily testing. How hard is it to spit in a tube every morning? My husband and I did it for 25 days and survived. We also continue to wear masks now that we’re home. Not a big deal.

We were told to self isolate for two weeks when we got to Toronto. Our son and granddaughter stocked us up with food, and we had lots of tp still at home. Because we are both over 75 we are being very careful. The people in our small town are being wonderful. The town is basically shut down except for gas stations, supermarkets, and the restaurants that are doing takeout.

So sad and so true.
I wonder, if things get worse, will The Sun not drop anchor in China (Or Rome if need be).
will this prevent The Sun from getting into the Guinness Book?
I don’t recall the criteria.
I do know that no matter what, Viking will make the right decision-Jeannette🤭
This will hit the news and scare the heck out of people I’m sure. -

For those onboard, I am wondering if any mention has been made about the new Coronavirus spreading through Asia. I know Viking would be closely watching developments. I remember traveling during the SARS outbreak a number of years ago. This seems a similar situation. Keep us posted Andy.
When SARS hit, one of the hospitals affected was only 25 miles away from me. It was well contained and life went on a usual. Let’s hope the same thing happens in China. I certainly hope no ports have to be missed. I also know that Viking will do their best to protect everyone.

The GBP and Euro are worth more which would make the cost of the trip less expensive. I also think Europeans might be interested in seeing parts of North America.
-
Too expensive for us. I’ll bet it will sell well to Europeans.

Wish Vicki the best from the Canadians who were on in the British Isles. I’m sure she won’t remember us but both Alan and I loved her. I remember her saying that she had family in Lerwick. Vicki has been our favourite cruise director of our six Viking cruises.

Puerto Montt just cancelled. A tender port, the wind and swells made tendering a bit dangerous. The Captain made the right call even if we did have to get up early. Rain forecasted too so there you go.
Unfortunate, but safety first.

It all sounds wonderful. The crew is going above and beyond to make sea days fun. Enjoy.

Wish I was sitting outside the Wintergarden watching the mountains. instead I’m planning to do laundry. As a Canadian we celebrated Thanksgiving in early October and today is just another day. 🙁

The responses to my email to tellus have always been met by a phone call the same day. We love Viking for that reason.

We’ve done the Viking TAs twice. The second time was in March 2020. We were mid-Atlantic when they closed all of the ports and declared the pandemic. The ship turned around and headed back to the US, and by the time we arrived they had secured all of us flights, regardless of whether we were going to US, Canada, UK, or in one case, Poland.
The first cruise was St. Maarten, Funchal, Valencia and one other.
