  1. Hi,

A couple of months ago, I considered a February 2017 cruise on the Harmony of the Seas. At that time, the studios were fairly priced (less expensive than paying double occupancy for a standard outside stateroom). When I saw the prices for the studio staterooms for late 2017, I thought there must be a mistake (they are much more expensive). Apparently, this is not a mistake. I don't know why anyone would book a studio stateroom under the current pricing. I have a feeling that the prices on these rooms will come down.

I guess I should consider myself lucky. I booked a studio outside cabin on the HOS Transatlantic in October and paid $1272.00. Yes I know the room will be small. I have checked prices on the Royal site and an outside now is showing $5234.00 CDN for solo occupancy. Soo I will be happy in my "closet" and I won't have to share with anyone at a price I can afford.

  2. Most of the Studio Oceanview rooms are denoted as being 96sq ft - so I'm thinking similar in size to the Anthem Studio Interiors, but with a different layout, perhaps with the bed nestled against the outer wall and closet/desk between bed and bath. There are a few listed as 103 sq ft so assuming they are just a foot deeper front to back for whatever reason.

No matter what these rooms will be cozy

Thank you! I did find a picture tonight. If it is similar, I will be ok. Cosy for sure. I have one more question, is there a way to search just for the solo cabins? I am sure they go fast.

  3. Okay Shirley, what do you want to know? I have a Studio cabin booked for the end of September. If I had booked a normal cabin for just me it would have been another couple of hundred dollars. Personally I am wondering just how small the cabin is, but since it's just me... And it's just a place to sleep and shower...

I am booked in a solo outside cabin for the Transatlantic. I too wonder how big it is or isnt. If I booked the normal cabin it would have been more way more. I hope someone will post a picture.

  4. We are sailing on the Crown on July 4. One quick question, if you don't mind. I found an old Patter for Alaska on line and it said that there was no self serve laundry. It got me thinking that maybe they don't allow it in the coastal waters? Can you tell me if there is self serve laundry? Thanks

  5. Hello~

Okay, I apologize, I am either too impatient or wound up (or most likely both! :o) to wait for a response on the new cruisers 'help with selecting a cabin' board, so I came here to ask the question as well.

    Our TA told us we have these options on the Independence (category D1): 1064, 4070, 1072, 1074, 1088, 1090, 1588, 6350, 6650, 6664, 7372, 7670, 7672, 7374, 7674, 7376, 7676, 8674, 8376, 8676, 9674, 9676.

I had requested an AFT balcony. I can't find the 1072, etc. cabins. Could she have mistyped it or something? I just sent her an e-mail to ask and am waiting to hear back from her.

    Please help me decide!

    Thank you!!

I had 7374 last week on the TA and it was a great balcony cabin. I asked for a lounger and there was room for it, three chairs and a little table on the balcony.

The location was very quiet and it didn't seem too far aft for a lot of walking.

I was very happy with it.

  6. On the Allure March 2nd and I ordered coffee for 2 every morning. Tipped 2 -3 dollars. Always take $1 bills . Just mark time you want delivered and they called and told us was coming.

I personally like that they call before. Which is likely a pain for them. On Princess they seem to have a window of a half an hour before or after your preferred time ;)

I set out my tip on the dresser the night before.

  7. I have been on two cruises that had large groups aboard. The first one was a Goth convention. They were quite pleasant and invited anyone who might be interested to join a couple of their parties. There was never an issue with getting a lounger in the sun ;) We did have to investigate when there was talk of the "Evil Faery" who turned out to be the DJ.

The other one was the Adventure Bears. They took over the public areas and were most unfriendly. I do try to look to see if there are any potential groups on a cruise before I book.
