  1. While in port during our October 2013 cruise aboard the Dream my DW purchased some jewelry. Excited to wear her new pretties, she opted to wear the ring to dinner even though it needed resized to fit properly.

After dinner, as we were exiting the elevator the ring slipped off her finger. Two quick bounces and a short roll and the ring disappeared into the crack between the elevator car and deck 5.

Knowing the ring was probably gone forever, but hoping against it we went to Guest Services to seek assistance. They contacted security and maintenance and we all met at the ring eating elevator. Maintenance shut down the elevator and searched the bottom of the shaft but the ring wasn't found. Soon after I noticed the lights indicating the elevator was moving were on and assumed the ring rescue mission had been abandoned.

The gentleman from guest services kept us there asking every detail about the ring. I figured it was for some report on the off chance the ring turned up later. A few minutes later, the elevator opened and standing there ON TOP of the elevator car were the maintenance guy and security guy. WITH THE RING! They had been riding up and down the shaft a top the car and found it on a small ledge two floors below.

We were so grateful that they would go through that much effort to retrieve what in reality was a ring worth a couple hundred dollars.

  2. Verizon's Smart Rewards program has been criticized for being a violation of your privacy. I just thought that people considering the program should be aware of this. There are plenty of articles out there about that. Here is one from Time that states:

..."it’s especially invasive, allowing the bots to track members’ locations, web browsing history, and app usage, among other things."

Personally, I don't think it is worth it. Basically, you are exchanging your personal information for the rewards, and the end product benefits Verizon more than it does you. Just my 2 cents.

Chances are you are already sharing that information, especially if you are using smart phone. Verizon is doing nothing different than Google. Using your browsing history and location for targeted marketing. At least verizon is giving you something in return for that information, lol.

Not to mention, you can opt out of that part of the program if I'm not mistaken.

  3. Never in 8353, but right next door in 55. We did here quite a bit of noise in the early morning when they were arranging deck chairs, but never noticed anything at night.

If you prefer your cabin to be cool verging on chilly temperature wise, I would avoid this cabin tho. We had trouble getting our cabin below 76 degrees. I don't know if it was just our cabin or an issue with that location in general. We kinda suspected it may have something to do with the open deck above

On the positive side, one quick trip up the stairs for snacks and such lol.

  4. You can't bring a camera at all. And they will check, on Dream this included a metal detector and a pat down.

We did receive a couple of souvenir photos, one was a group photo in the galley and the other was my wife and I with the captain on the bridge.

We really enjoyed our tour and recommend everyone try to do it at least once.
