  1. Hello:

Could someone please tell me if the outlets next to the bed on the Pearl are USB or regular plug in ?  I am not very electric savy, so any information you can give me would be greatly appreciated.

I need to plug in a device and need to know what is there. This would be in a handicap cabin.  The device I have is USB and the plug is a little bigger than the cord I use to plug my phone in with. I was just curious if it would work.  This would be for 9648.

    Thanks in advance!

  2. Hello.

We are sailing on the Pearl leaving on June 16th.   We are looking for hotels near the airport to stay at the night before the cruise and possibly with a shuttle to the port.  Also, it would help if they have a shuttle to/from the airport.  Hubby is mobility challenged so we do not plan on doing any sight seeing. Any information you can give me would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks !!!!

  3. With all of the airport problems going on, Hubby and I are now flying into Miami 2 days before our cruise.  We normally fly in just 1 day before.  After the cruise, we will stay 1 extra day. Not worried about after, but the departing is concerning. Hoping that 2 days in advance will work for us.  We are flying to/from ORD-MIA,  MIA-ORD. We leave this Thursday for the cruise this weekend.

  4. Awsome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!   Thank you everybody so very very much. It has been years since we sailed out of Miami. In past cruises we have taken the shuttle offered by the cruise line. Now hubby can't do the steps into the bus. A van or car is good for him now, and therefore the need for the scooter.  You all have been very helpful. One less thing for me to worry about !

  5. Awsome!  Thanks !!

One more question please.  How easy is it to get a taxi to go from the port to a hotel near the airport?  We don't want to do Uber and after the cruise we are staying a day extra to relax. Someone mentioned private car service.

Any information would be great !

  6. We will be sailing on the Carnival Horizon for 8 days later this month.

We are suppose to arrive back to the Port of Miami on Sunday August 28th.

We will be staying at the Embassy Suites in Miami for 1 day before we fly out the morning of August 29th.

The hotel does not offer a transfer from the port to the hotel. Only from the hotel to the airport.

We are looking for some sort of Taxi/Car Service from the port to the hotel.  Hubby does not want to use UBER. (It's a long story)

Do they have Taxi's or Car Service waiting at the port for possible pick ups?  Hubby is mobility challenged but can walk a bit.

Any advice/help you can suggest would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you .

I’m not going to write a day by day review (although I really appreciate those who do)

First this sailing was 4600 according to CD, well over 100% capacity…. And it showed.  Very long lines everywhere…. Close to 2 hour line for pizza after 11 pm.    Could never get in a comedy show

    Thoughts/Observations

    The fabulous:

    the crew, everyone of them

the CD, Donkey- I usually don’t care

    My room steward K

    jijis (my favorite)

The MDR (I loved everything they had)

The ship (Vista class is my favorite)

    Serenity (surprisingly not over crowded)

my cabin and the temp in my cabin only

(Inside, deck 11..  free casino deal)

embarkation (10 mins total from shuttle to deck) used VeriFLY

    drink service on lido deck

Ports;  Aruba, Bonaire, La Romana and Amber Cove- loved them all, beautiful on their own way

    Good

Debarkation - no problems, just took a little longer due to crowds

shows - the ones I saw were good

    casino atmosphere/variety of machines

    Most room service items

Behavior of the many kids (no problems that I saw)

    Casino drink servers

    shops- pretty weak selection actually

im going to jump to horrible

buffet- the worst on my 20+ cruises, and not just the fact there were no seats available..  ever.  The food was nearly inedible.  Desserts were great, Icecream and gelato great…. But that’s it.

guys burgers-  just not good anymore.  Dry cold buns, cheese not melted, no mushrooms..  smaller.  Fries terrible, just not the same sadly.

The behavior of many adults on this trip. Rude, disrespectful, selfish, treated the crew like dirt, the longest line I’ve ever seen to remove gratuities, ignoring all elevator etiquette (purposely and willfully), pushing and shoving…. Seriously, the worst I’ve ever seen and I’m a past Carnival crew member.  Entitled jack as..s.

lastly, the temperature throughout the public areas…. Hot hot hot hot..  stifling, suffocating.  The elevators were unreal, even if no one else was on it.

I would definitely do this ship and itinerary again, but not this time of year.  The kids were fine…. The parents not so much.

I did not exact in the steak house or blue iguana, or see any comedy shows.  I did not go to the spa.

    any questions..  just ask

May I ask what time you chose for embarking ?

I am not sure about other ports, but we have cruised 3 times out of Miami this year.  The first two times they did not have the normal lounge open that we used to wait in, but they did have a specific area sectioned off in the main seating area marked just for Diamond and Platinum.  This last time though (last week), they did not even have this!  Just sat wherever.  We have been A1 every time and went right after suites and weddings.

Also, one other note, last week they weren't even adhering to their arrival times which floored me.  We were in the first arrival time frame and there were a bunch of people being passed through the line and told to go.  They weren't even looking at boarding times.  I saw times on peoples passes that ranged from our time all the way to 2 hours later and everything in between.  When we got in the building it was already 1/4 full, and again we had the first arrival time.  Created a bit of a nightmare for boarding.  At least the timed entries made it slightly better, but they were just flat out letting anyone that flashed their boarding pass in.

Did the Miami port have an actual waiting area for Suite passengers ?

We are booked in a Handicap suite and are Platinum, so I was just wondering how it is set up at Miami. Thank you in advance for any information.

We have rented scooters from both Scootaround and SpecialNeedsatSea.   The scooter was always in our stateroom when we boarded pre-covid (we always boarded as early as we could).   Except a couple of times when the scooter was waiting for us outside the terminal, which is where we had to return it.  However, since cruising has restarted we have had several times that the scooter was not in our stateroom until 2ish.   We actually called the rental company on these occasions and we were always told that it was on its way, and we did get the scooter later.

Your instructions from your rental company will tell you where to pick up your scooter and where to leave it after the cruise.   Typically, you pick up in your stateroom and that's where you leave it when you disembark on the final day.   And on the last day, don't leave the scooter anywhere except where your documents say to leave it or you will be assesed a fee.

If you rent from Scootaround, I've attached page 1 of Scootaround's confirmation for a cruise we will be on in June so you can see the wording about where to pick up the scooter.

And we're usually on our third drink by 2pm, too  😁

Did you go on the cruise in June?  I was wondering where/when you were able to get your scooter from Scooteround.  We are sailing on Carnival Horizon out of Miami next month and were wondering where we can pick up the scooter. We have a handicap suite booked so we know the scooter will fit .  Thanks for any additional information you can provide.
