  1. We did have Cruise Care. After boarding the ship I became ill. I was evacuated to the local hospital in Ft. Lauderdale. Medicare and private insurance paid of all my medical costs. The ship's medical dept. charged my credit card. I as reimbursed for the cruise within two weeks. I was assigned social worker from the hospital that interfaced with the insurance company. They made arrangements for my flight home (no additional charge).

The ship medical charge was denied by medicare since it was considered a foreign trip. I resubmitted to my private insurer and waiting. If rejected I hope the trip insurance will pay that medical. The ship insurance co. will pay after primary and secondary pays.

  2. Greetings All,

We will be Sailing On Brilliance Of The Seas Departing 07-Jun-2016 from Barcelona, Spain and have questions. Our first cruise to Europe and am looking for some reviews, guidance etc. I did a search without much luck.

You experience on hotels in Barcelona, near the cruise terminal ?

    Transportation not a problem ?

Which ship excursions to take? Which are not too good / interesting ?

Europeans on board, any large differences from American cruisers ? In the dining room ?

Weather in June seems to be 65* low and 76* high - casual dress with comfortable shoes for sightseeing ?

    Thanks for being so patient.

The other posters said it all. However watch out for pick pockets particularly around Las Ramblas and other tourist sites. Barcelona is known for pick pockets. The city is safe otherwise.

We stayed at Hotel Gaudi just off Las Ramblas. It's a typical European hotel. Try to stay on the top floor with a view to Gaudi's chimneys across the way. The hotel is old but clean and reasonable. It's just a short cab ride to the port.

    Enjoy.

  3. We are traveling with another couple and looking at booking a shore excursion for our September cruise of the Eastern Med. We will be stopping in Naples and I was interested in the "Sorrento and Amalfi Drive" tour. When speaking with my friend she's nervous about the drive because she thinks it might be dangerous with the curves and the narrow roads. If anyone has taken this tour and can give me some firsthand info I would certainly appreciate it. I heard it was a beautiful drive and I hope I can convince her with some help from others.

    Thanks.

We did this tour with a private co. and shared with one other couple in a car. It was of the most wonderful tour we've taken. Out tour guide was outstanding. It was less expensive than the ship's tour. We found this tour in Rol Call.

  4. My husband and I are flying into and from Fort Lauderdale for a November 8th cruise on the Reflection. This is our first Celebrity cruise and probably the first from Miami in 15 years. Before I make the reservations, is a return flight at 12:15 going to be a problem? It is a Saturday so traffic should be too bad early in the day, I would think. I would rather not pay for a cab, so any suggestions to get to the Fort Lauderdale airport? Thank you.

We are sailing on the same ship, Nov. 8 and staying in Miami for 2 days pre-cruise. Our res. returning from MIA are at 4:00 on Delta. I chose that because the other earlier departure options would be more stressful given the number of ships and passengers arriving at the same time. You also need to factor in time to check in at the airport and time to go thru TSA. Generally flights start boarding about 30 minutes before flight time.
