You've been to Europe and know good chocolate. The 24 hour cafe has the good chocolate for sale.
Remember to take your own antibiotic ointments like Bactine and triple antibiotic, etc. as you need a prescription in Norway. You can not get them over the counter like you can here.
We arrived on 18 May for 17 days. Once above the Arctic Circle, we had daylight 24 hours.

I would call them and explain the situation. I'm sure they will work with you. The only time you would have a problem with choices is the evening meal. Breakfast and lunch have many choices other than fish.
And, don't forget the beans for breakfast.:D
-
Actually there are "default" dishes, you just have to pay for them. There is also a pay cafe with sandwiches, salads, etc.
Now, as we can eat anything, we have no problem. In your case, I would contact Hurtigruten and explain your allergy problem and see what, if anything, they can do for you. I would bet they will work with you.
There were many choices for breakfast and lunch other than fish.
Hope this helps.

They stop at the same ports each way any where from 15 minutes to 6 hours. The ones during the day one way are at night coming back. We did the round trip and that is the way it is. There are more things to do going north than coming back south.
If you haven't read my review, please do so.

We did the round trip in May/June on the Midnatsol. No problem with seasickness.
Here's our review of the trip:

I'll try to answer any questions.

NCL doesn't care. What they would really like is no other cruise lines allowed in Hawaiian waters. They want an absolute monopoly there with no competition.
-
If the one ship sails full and makes a profit, then there is no need for any change. That would negate the unfair competition argument.

Of the ones we have had as CDs:
Ken Rush, Bobby Brown, James Andrews Top tier
Graham Seymour, Dan Whitney 2nd tier
Karen Mayberry, Gordon Whatman Bottom
We've had many others, but none memorable enough to remember.
Have not had Clo, Becky or Sapcey.
Probably the best, now retired: Jeffrey Arpin

The last date mentioned was 1 June. That's a Sunday, so check on Monday 2 June for anything in the Federal Register.

Consider this: Isn't profit the primary goal for any company, particularly those that answer to shareholders? Not that that is always the best thing, but, it all comes down to 'the bottom line' eventually.
One of my jobs was manageing a $50 million a year new install and maintenance contract for broadband coax cable networks on 6 Air Force bases. The day I took over that job, I told the contractor I had no problem with reasonable profits, but don't try to gouge us. Thery tried, got shot down and we got along fine after that.
I have no problem with a company making a profit. It's when they cut corners, take away benefits, charge more and make deciions based on the short term gain rather than the long term and make an obscene amout of profit. The cruise lines aren't as bad as the oil companies, but they will begin to alienate long time cruisers.
They're betting the new cruisers will keep coming back even as they keep cutting services.

I don't agree with that. I havent found the ships to be in such disrepair as is widely reported. In addition, I know I see ongoing maintenance taking place during a cruise. In my 3 most recent epxeriences on 2 different Celebrity ships (Constellation, Mercury). I would not say the ships are falling apart as some may claim.
DARN! those klingons!...:D
"That sagging old rust bucket is designed like a garbage scow"
"Laddie... don't you think you should... rephrase that?"
"Yehhhr right, ah shooold. I didn't mean to say the <pick you ship here> should be hauling garbage, I meant to say that it should be hauled away AS garbage!!!!"
-- From 'The Trouble With Tribbles"
I don't think anyone said the ships were "falling apart". There were many minor maintenance issues and areas of neglect on the Millennium in January. There were also areas where everything was impeccable. As I said before, it was as if they were concentrating on the high traffic areas at the detriment of other areas. That would be the logical thing to do if there wasn't enough staff to keep up with everything.
Based on some comments by folks I've talked to in C&A at RCI, the revenue (bean counters) department is making the rules now. I assume it's the same with X. Once you give them control, areas such as maintenance, training, customer service and nice little touches and amenities seem to deteriorate or go away.
When profit becomes your diety, all things suffer.

Jade: Nothing like the aquaspa cafe. There's generally a varity of healthy food in Jade and the Windjammer. Just look at all the stations to see what's available.
Depends on their expectations whether they'll like it or not. Since I don't know what they like to do, it's hard to tell. There's always bingo. There's a nice wine place on the promenade. They have ballroom dancing at times. The ice show is great and the shows are generally pretty good.
It generally comes down to if you want to have a good time you will. If you want to find things wrong, you will.
I hope she likes it and they all have a great time. Just don't predispose them to think it's too big and not for them.
Glad you like the reviews. I try to be objective and keep a balance.

Jade13: You're right about the Hurtigruten being one of our favorites as it far exceeded our expectations in all areas. The problem with X was that it didn't meet our expectations based on everything we had heard and read.
If you read my review comparing X and RCI, you'll see that I had things on X that were better than RCI and Vice Versa. Overall it was pretty much a tossup except for the maintenance issues and the buffet layout.
There was nothing bad enough that we felt we had to complain about it.

RCI and Celebrity are owned by RCCL, but have different management. We have been on 25 RCI cruises on 16 different ships over 21 years and have never seen the maintenance problems we saw on the Millennium.
It just looked like they were maintaining some areas and items to the neglect of others. They might be ignoring what they consider low traffic areas.
The folks below us said their sofas were also in very bad shape, the drapes were torn and there was mold and mildew in the bathroom.
We were both in famliy oceanviews with the huge balcony.

Tos: We were on the Millie for our first Celebrity cruise the end of January and noticed many of the same maintenance issues you cited. We've been on 30+ cruises over 20 years on many different ships both old and new. We have 25 cruises on RCI and my wife commented that RCI would never let a ship have all the maintenance issues we saw on the Millie. We're not nit pickers, but it was obvious there was a lot of neglect in some areas.
We were in 8181 and the sofas were almost falling apart. There was a small hole in the bathroom that water bubbled up from when you stepped on that tile.
Friends of ours were on the Summit last fall and finally had to move from their Sky Suite because of the mold under the tile in the bathroom.
We were really surprised at the neglect as we have always heard how great Celebrity was. The staff was excellent. Our cabin attendent was one of the best ever. Our wait staff was adequate.
There's nothing that will ruin anybody's cruise and most folks won't even notice the neglect as evidenced by prior posts. Anyone going on the Millie will have a great time as overall she's a good ship.

Bring back the menus and food quality of 15-20 years ago.
Build the 2 Radiance class ships that were cancelled.
Even though RCI has the best loyalty program, there are things they could do better. Free internet for Diamond Plus would be nice.
-
Generic for Colace and generic for Ducolax as needed works well. Also, drink your prune juice every so often.
Exercise and lots of water help.
-
I was told by a nice Diamond Plus lady that our web pages were not a priority and they didn't know if/when they would ever be.
Neither my cruise history nor credits have been shown for weeks.
I created a page for my wife and her history and credits are there even tho her credits are wrong.
I created another page for myself and still don't have a history or credit info.
Nice how they take care of their customers.

I have some that I'll post tonight or tomorrow in webshots. I need to get them together.
We were on her 3 times - 87, 88 and 93. Our first cruise and ship in 87.
