  2. Hello all,

We are flying over from London for this cruise. We get in the day before the cruise so will be tame while in Miami. This is our 2nd time on the Getaway, first time was when she was 5 weeks old and still had that new carpet smell lol.

There will be a small group of us, currently 9 in total, all guys, as we are celebrating 2 birthdays in the group. So we hope there are no early nights planned! got to love the UBP!

Hope to meet you all at the meet first night.

  3. Thank you so much. You have explained something so clearly that not even RCCL could convey!

They don't seem to underestimate how something so simple as a location could really muck peoples plans up. We were getting ourselves ready to get the monorail from the P4 drop off point, where our hotel shuttle will take us back to and go to the main Amtrak station based on their confusing information.

If they merely stated the Airtrain station P4 and kept the same address then would make so much more sense. I even found the following on line which again threw us:

  4. Hello, we are sailing on Anthem of the Seas on 27th November and are having a nightmare with getting the info we need for Royal Caribbean's airport to cruise port transfer service.

We actually fly in from the UK the day before the cruise (26th November) and decided to book this transfer service catching our free hotel/airport shuttle from our hotel back to the airport because it was going to be so expensive to get a taxi/private car from our hotel to Cape Liberty cruise port.

We have been told several times by RCCL reps that the transfer is from the Amtrak EWR Station where we meet a rep in the waiting area and be taken to the coach. It took us 3 calls for them give us something in writing to confirm this and we were given the following details:

"On the scheduled day of ship boarding, present this voucher for one way ground transportation from Amtrak Station - EWR, located at Martin Road, Newark, NJ 0711 to Cape Liberty Cruise Port in Bayonne, NJ.

Meet your escort in the Main Waiting Room/Passenger Pick-Up Area near the Information Booth at 11:15 AM. Bus departure time is 11:30 AM."

What no one at RCCL seems to understand is when you look up the Amtrak Station on Amtrak's website its actually showing the Airtrain P4 station of Newark International Airport. When looking on Google Maps the actual main Amtrak Newark International Airport Station is on Station Road not Martin Road. While this seems a simple matter, it could mean we are going to and waiting in the wrong place and will miss the transfer!

Has anyone else used this transfer service before? Can you provide any better info or advice?

  5. This has all been very helpful. We are in the same boat (no pun) and been told the same. I already emailed uk customer services and uk customer relations yesterday before I thought to check for a thread. I have now also emailed the Mbayley address also. Have not emailed a&c yet as thought that maybe overkill. Hope we get the same response and that RCCL are going to apply this to all in the same situation. Thanks for the hard work and sharing of others on this.

  6. Hi, I think the OP was really looking to clarify is the ship arranges the visa or not. We are in the same boat (no pun intended) and keep getting told to look at the embassy website or gov.co.uk. Its categorically clear that we need a visa for Vietnam, what is not clear is wether or not this is sorted by the ship or by us in advance prior to travelling.

  7. Hello. We sail on Voyager of the seas with a stop off in Nha Trang. We booked via AVIOS as a travel agent. We also have seen much conflicting information and today we contacted RCI and AVIOS separately. Both told us that we are required to use Visa Central company to arrange a visa as we have a private tour planned. We were told that we would only have visa's arranged, by the ship, if we had a shore excursion arranged by them. However previously, when calling RCI, we were told something different. This is completely frustrating as we have been told by employee at RCI that we don't need to worry and the ship will sort out the visa, yet today told something different. We have also seen the web page on RCI web site where it states visa would be arranged automatically. Other CC posts have raised concerns of costs reaching $100 for visas, like they making up prices as they go along.

I hope some other UK cruisers have had better experience. Im hoping RCI follow Celebrity with regards to charges. We just wish it was more clear.

  8. We arrive tomorrow into fort Lauderdale and will venture to Port early on Saturday. We may attend the FOD and hope to meet you guys.

Weather in FL today is great. Heavy rain yesterday and even tornado warning. We are staying at the worthington resort. Leaving here tomorrow to get to port for 12ish

Well if you don't go to the FOD meet then will see you at the CC meet that's been organised.
