What to do in Bari and Ravenna?

Hello. We are 2 adults and a 3 year-old son from California. We are booked on the MSC Magnifica that will make stops in two Italian ports with which I am not familiar (Bari and Ravenna). It is our first time with MSC, but we have been to Europe (and Italy) several times before.

Has anyone visited these ports from a cruise ship before? Any suggestions on what to do?

Does anyone know if these poorts are manageable on our own or do we need excursions?

All suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

For Bari, one thing your son would enjoy is if you rent a car for the day and drive down to Alberobello (trulli houses are amazing in this town) and go to the ZooSafari in Fasano. It's about an hour from Bari. My kids loved the zoosafari!! It is a drive-through zoo and the animals come right up to your car window.
