Hi...does anyone know if you can register as Debit Bank Card rather than a Credit Card for onboard payment...coming from Australia I want to use my Citibank Debit card as it does not have foreign currency fees, where as my Credit card does.

We used our Visa debit card on our Divina cruise . We don't have a credit card ! We had no problems except we contacted our bank to let them know we would be out of the country and we would be using the debit card and they were supposed to wave the foreign fee , but it showed up on out statement a month later. No biggie ! It was only $7.95 so we didn't even try to get it reversed .

Thanks Graminator ...we have a Citi Travel card that has no foreign withdrawal or exchange fees anywhere in the world, and is only used for traveling, so its good to know you did not have any issues with using a debit card. ...Did you decide how much to put on account to start and then got refunded/paid in the difference to the actual expenses at the end, or was it done automatically for the correct amount at the end of the cruise?

We just charged as we went. We never put a certain amount down or set a limit. We just added our charges from shopping in the ship shops, casino charges, etc on to our ship account. Of course they added the daily service charges. At weeks end they deducted our on board credit and then charged the balance to our debit card . No problems at all except for the small bank charge.

So according to others experience it seems one can use debit cards with no problems. Cool.

The important thing here is that you are a wise traveler and informed yourself before the fact.

Way to go, have a wonderful cruise.

Cheers.
