Price drop and RC not offering anything

From my experience last year they don't let you go from a specific room to a gty booking after final payment. You could only upgrade to another you pick room. (No idea what would happen if you booked gty and wanted to upgrade to a better gty but already had your room assigned.)

 

Also, depending on if you got a group rate changing your room might get rid of any benefits you had from that. Not sure though as I haven't tried upgraded on a royal group bookings, I know on NCL upgrading after final payment can void your group benefits depending on circumstances.

Just upgraded to a GTY# 25 days before the cruise no problem - no extra $ needed (y)

Last year, after final payment, I took a balcony guarantee for $50 more. I was assigned an accessible balcony about a month before the cruise.

A brief update, none of the reps the travel agent spoke with were as nice as at the ones I did and the price started to rise in the meantime. We ended up paying $30 to upgrade to a standard balcony from a interior balcony guarantee. So I'm pretty happy.... we started off with just a window room so we've definitely worked our way up.
