Sunset Jamaica Grande - Ocho Rios

I thought this may be of interest to those going into Ocho Rios.

I was on About.com checking on an all-inclusive in Cancun for a friend and happen to notice that Sunset Beach Resort in Montego Bay was listed under what's hot. We plan to go there in August. Well just out of curiosity I clicked into it and of course it listed the same old stuff that I've seen before - http://travelwithkids.about.com/od/jamaica/p/sunsetbeachjam.htm - but what caught my eye was a statement that said the same owners are opening the Sunset Jamaica Grande - so I clicked into that link and was taken to a page about the new resort which is scheduled to open (or should I say re-open) March 19,2005 in OCHO RIOS - http://travelwithkids.about.com/od/jamaica/p/sunsetjamgrand.htm. Then I clicked into another link http://travelwithkids.about.com/gi/dynamic/offsite.htm?zi=1/XJ&sdn=travelwithkids&zu=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.all-inclusive-vacations.com%2FJamaica%2Fjamaica_grande.htm which took me to a little more detailed page.

Makes me wonder if they will have the same deal for cruisers that the Montego Bay locations has? I know some going into Ocho Rios were disappointed to find out that MB was so far away and they couldn't enjoy Sunset Beach.

There wasn't an email addy for the hotel (only the webmaster) and the phone number given on the second page is in Miami - looks like a travel agent and they probably won't know.

So I did a search on just the hotel and found another website - http://www.interliner.com/product/index.cfm?pid=21221314200004 - which looks good - but still couldn't find anything directly linked to the hotel (instead of through agents).

I guess there is no way to find out if they will offer the day passes to cruisers until they open but I wanted to pass on the info anyway.

Thanks for the info., we've been looking at a cruise that goes to Ocho Rios instead of Montego Bay, but I've been hesitant because I really like Sunset at Montego Bay. :) Now that this new resort is going to open in Ocho Rios, I might think about booking the cruise. We really haven't decided yet. If you find out any more info., please post it for us. I would like to know more about this place.

Most likely nothing will be known - as far as day passes for cruisers - until it actually opens. Maybe someone going to Sunset Beach Resort in MB could inquire - since they are owned by the same company - I didn't think about that until just now.
