td_route66 Posted June 26, 2010 #1 Share Posted June 26, 2010 I’m trying to find out if the view from the balcony down to the water is obstructed on this ship. A little history, I was disappointed in the view from our balcony on the Radiance of the sea (Room 7128). There’s a large canopy that covers the lifeboats on the deck below, which obstructs the view down to the water. We’ve booked the stateroom 9592 on the Explorer of the Seas for a New England cruise in late September; I’d be interested to know if the lifeboats or anything else for that matter on Explorer obstruct the view. TIA Attached is the view from the Radiance stateroom 7128.
subtchr Posted June 26, 2010 #2 Share Posted June 26, 2010 We were on Explorer last week, Cabin 7320 on the hump. At first I thought you were asking about the solid wall that is the bottom of the balcony (as opposed to clear glass on some newer ships). But if you are asking about other obstructions, we did not have any. They say that there is a slight obstruction from the top of the lifeboats from Deck 6, but we were only one deck above that and did not notice anything, so on Deck 9 I would think you would have even less. Here are a couple photos from our balcony: Shot of the Bermuda harbor pilot boarding, taken straight down from our balcony: Some other shots from the balcony: Starboard hump balconies from the dock at Kings Wharf:
Albert Ross Posted June 26, 2010 #3 Share Posted June 26, 2010 Explorer is in a totally different 'class' of build to Radiance. There is little similarity between the ships. Explorer does not have the lifeboat canopy that Radiance has.
