Amsterdam Manor Beach or Eagle

Has anyone been to Amsterdam Manor recently? If so...

Do you walk through the resort to get to the beach?

Is there a place to get lunch?

Is there someone that comes to your chair for food and drinks or do you have to go and get it?

How does it compare to Eagle Beach?

Thanks in advance

Amsterdam Manor is a very small resort, more like a small hotel. It is located across the street from the beach. A bus or taxi will let you out right at the beachfront. There is an outdoor beach side restaurant on sight. Amsterdam Manor IS on Eagle Beach. Have fun!

Yes....AMBR IS on Eagle Beach. It is at the far end. In my opinion....it's the best place to be on Eagle. The beach is across the street from the resort. There is no need to go to the resort at all. Just walk out on to the beach and pick out where you want to sit. Someone will come and collect $20 from you for two chairs and a palapa. There is a very nice beach bar there and you can order a delicious lunch that they will deliver right to your chair. Check out my pictures on the other AMBR thread.

LOVED it this past July. We had the best relaxing day there.

Took the local bus at the bus depot across the street from the ship. Got off right at the hotel. Easy to spot and know when to get off if you sit on the passenger side of the bus. Not the bus driver side.

Got off the bus, walked across the street to pure heaven.

Nice bar with food/drinks, outside shower and of course the chairs and palapa. Water was clean and clear. Beach not crowded at all. IF you want a little more action, just walk the beach to check out the other sights and then return back to your chair.

When we were finished, there is a bus stop right where you got off getting there, but this time, it is on the beach side. Waited a few minutes for a bus and got dropped back off at the bus depot.

There are big buses and also vans that are busses. Either way, just tell the driver you want to go back to the bus depot. He will let you know if that is his route or not.

Very easy and very cheap to do!

Doing it again in June 2012!

Do you know if you can take the bus & pay with American $$? We would like to go the the beach from the cruise ship, but do not want to exchange money into local currency.

Thank you for any advice.

Yes, we paid in american dollars. Just made sure we had small bills and some change.

Ask for a roundtrip ticket when you first get on. It is cheaper than paying singly for each way.

How much is the bus fare? Single rate and roundtrip rate?

We're planning on doing this beach via taxi in Feb/12...but if the buses are easy to find we'll go via the buses.

Thanks in advance for any info you can share with us.

We just returned from our cruise and spent the day on Eagle Beach across from Amsterdam Manor. We took a bus to the beach $2.60 round trip. The bus lets you off right on the beach across the street from Amsterdam Manor. Walk onto the beach and when facing the bar,go to the right, you will see chairs and umbrellas for rent. I think it was $15 for two chairs and umbrella. There is plenty of shade. They also supply a towel. There is a restaurant and beach bar there. Take cash as they will only accept credit cards for purchases over $20. The only facilities we saw were portable toilets (Johnny on the Spot) right near the bar. There were attendants cleaning them every hour. They also had changing rooms available. Eagle Beach is less crowded than Palm Beach, enjoy!!!!!

I just went last week.. while I don't remember the exact price, my husband bought an amstel bright bottle. It wasn't a full 12 ounce bottle and I remember thinking it was a bit more towards he pricey side especially for the size (maybe $5. but it was so nice and cold). They did come around at one point with some fresh fruit skewers.. very nice touch.

There is nothing to see snorkeling off of the Amsterdam Manor and Eagle Beach or Palm Beach for that matter.

Just plain white sandy bottom. No place for fish or critters to hide.
