Specific NCL Excursions

Hello! We usually take private tours, but can't seem to find good options that are not booked in these areas:

Has anyone personally taken "Bras D'or Lakes Grand Tour" for $149 pp (lunch included) in Sydney, Nova Scotia? If so, what resort do they take you to? Is the food good? Is it worth the price?

Has anyone taken "Best Of Saint John - Top 10" for $99pp (no food included), or "St. Martins & The Bay Of Fundy" also $99pp (one hour less, bowl of chowder included) in Saint John, Bay of Fundy?

Appreciate any help, Thanks!

St Johns is a very walkable city .

They have a good public bus system too.

I really enjoyed the public market with all kind of local food .

Sydney was a quiet little town with lots of local crafters in the port building .

For Sydney you are best to rent a car. There is little traffic and the driving is easy. You will have a much better day and save money.

I would take a drive around the Bras D'Or Lakes. Baddeck is the small resort village and home to the wonderful Alexander Graham Bell Museum. www.pc.gc.ca/lhn-nhs/ns/grahambell/index.aspx

Then carry on to Iona. If it is open visit the Highland Village Museum. Iona is a beautiful spot even if the museum is closed. museum.gov.ns.ca/hv/en/home/default.aspx

Christmas Island is a tiny blip on the road but the post office has a great cancellation stamp so people go there to get Christmas cards stamped. http://www.huffingtonpost.ca/2011/11/16/christmas-island-cape-breton_n_1097827.html

Here is a map:

Or, as described in this thread, you could drive part of the Cabot Trail. You have to set out ASAP to get to Neil's Harbour and I would bring a sandwich but it is a great drive. http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1769976&page=5

Don't worry about the ferries mentioned on these maps. They are cable ferries and you just take a couple minutes to load and cross.

A great source of information for cruise ports is http://www.tomsportguides.com/

He gives great details, but he did turn around too soon on the Cabot Trail drive.

Thanks for the tips. I do have car rentals reserved for Saint John and Sydney but the other couple we traveling with gets nervous about getting lost, etc. Saint John looks fairly easy to rent a car, but Sydney looks a little more challenging but still doable. I will have to try to convince them. You did not mention the Fortress. Is it not advised to go on October 6? Is too much of it closed?
