Spa hours on the Star

Just got off the Star today (2/7/16) and had the Thermal Spa package. Here are the hours:

Day 1 (Sunday Embarkation) - 5pm - 10pm

Day 2-6 (Mon - Fri) - 8am - 10pm

Day 7 (Saturday) - 8am - 9pm

Closed Debarkation Day

You could probably get in earlier (7am) if you're coming down from a morning workout from the fitness center and ask nicely if someone is walking around. I did it twice to take a shower in the locker room so I wouldn't wake up my wife.

The number of people they allow to buy the package on the Star is maximum 60 because of it's smaller size. Be sure to purchase the Thermal Spa package online before embarkation and save $20/pp. It's $119/pp online, and $139/pp on the ship. There is also an option for a day pass which is $20 or $25/pp.

Included amenities for the NCL Star Thermal Spa:

Common (Co-ed) Area:

- Heated Lap Pool (2.5 ft shallow, 3.5 ft deep end)

- Therapy Pool - Seats 4-5 - Lounge chair bars with bubbles from underneath - Temp 100-105 degrees.

- Hot Tub - Seats 5-6 - Standard hot tub with jets for back, bottom, and feet - Temp 100-105 degrees

- 12 Lounge chairs facing aft windows

- 1 table with 6 chairs near the aft area

- 3 shower stalls to rinse off before/after

- Flavored ice water, hot water, many teas to choose from

2 "Quiet" rooms that can be shared:

- Either side of the lounge chairs that you can enter from the main area or the men's or women's locker rooms

- Has 6 chairs with ottomans in each quiet room, more comfortable than the wooden lounge chairs in the common area.

- Look out the aft windows, read a book, or there is a TV that can be turned on (be sure everyone else in the room won't mind the TV).

Men's Locker Room:

- Hot and Cold tubs - 1 person hot water and cold water tubs

- Sauna

- Steam Room - seats 3-4

- 3 stall showers with doors

- 3 open showers

- 30-40 electronic code lockers (you pick the code)

- Towels and Robes

Women's Locker Room:

- Steam Room - seats 3-4

- 3 stall showers with doors

- 30-40 electronic code lockers.

- Towels and Robes

I have a 4 minute video of the Thermal Spa area and Men's locker room from Embarkation day that I will post in the next few days along with a full review. I will come back and post a link to it.

Hi, thanks for this info. Was it possible to buy the day passes online in advance or is that only available if there is room on the day?

No day passes available online, only the $119/pp package. They are only available at the spa reception desk on deck 11, and I believe they offer the day pass based on occupancy at the time or expected occupancy for the day (sea day, weather conditions on deck, etc).

Also, a tip to get to the Mandara Spa on deck 11. The aft elevator only goes from deck 7-13 and deck 11 is a bit hard to maneuver with the Kid Zone blocking the port side. Either get to deck 7, go to the aft elevators, and go up to deck 11; or go up to deck 12 from fwd/mid elevators, walk all the way through the market cafe on the starboard side, then go down the stairs next to the fitness center, or take the elevator down to 11.

would you say its worth the money. From what I can see the spa looks small and alot of the facilities are free on most lines like carnival.

As we seem to be having less and less time to go to the spa (finding more stuff to do and people to do it with), we will probably just get the day passes 2 or 3 days of our next trip ($60 each vs $120 each).

If you spend a lot of time in your room or on your balcony, or don't like to do a lot of the ship activities (other than eat or shows), or you prefer not to be topside with overcrowded pool and spas and kids, then it's worth every penny for the peace and serenety.

I do get bored easy and I am not one to stay in one place too long so I will take your advice and do a few day passes if they let me. Now that I think about it the only time I can sit still for extended periods of time is late at night in the casino or card tables.

Just off the Star as well and wanted to clarify some of these items above.

We were told (and maybe they just told us wrong, not sure) but the Relaxation Room to the left is supposed to be Women Only. The Relaxation Room to the right is for Men and Women (specifically mentioned that the women had to be there with her husband...?!?). The one on the right is not directly accessible from the Men's locker room, the exit in that room actually goes down the hallway of the spa treatment rooms. It was rather awkward going out that way!

Also, the Women's Locker room had a Wet and a Dry Sauna (so 2 saunas). Probably could seat 10 people (not 2-3) in each one but when I was there I never saw anyone in them! When I tried to use the wet sauna it was way too hot for me.

An additional item that the Women's Locker room had that I liked (I'm easily impressed apparently) was the free shower caps. They also came with ties for your hair (ponytail holders). All in a nice little cardboard holder. Again, I'm easily impressed. LOL

Well, what I wasn't impressed with was the size of the showers. Normally a standard shower (I'm not talking the free standing ones but the enclosed showers) in the spa or fitness area is much larger than what you have in your cabin. Not in the case, I'm fairly certain my cabin shower was bigger than these!!

Also, of note, my husband is more in to working out and wanted to just use the treadmills in the fitness center. However, there are NO locker rooms, changing rooms, or showers in the fitness center! We even asked downstairs in the spa if he could use the bathroom/showers and they said "no, those are only for people who have the spa pass or paying for spa service." Though I did overhear the fitness center crew member saying you COULD use the showers downstairs (didn't like hearing two different answers in the span of one minute...!).

I always get the thermal suites when I cruise and this one was different than others that I have been in. It had a much larger indoor lap pool but also didn't have the heated lounge chairs.

I did use it, and did enjoy the thermal spa but wasn't in there as much as I thought I would be. Unless I'm on a newer ship (i.e., Getaway/Breakaway) I would probably recommend just a day pass.

Hi, you all seem to have enough experience with the stars facilities to answer this question: can a guy just use the steam room , sauna and shower without dropping $120 for the pools? That's all I want to do. More room, a better shave after a steam bath and I don't wake the famity up doing it!

In my opinion,I'm paying enoughas it is!

Thanks in advance!
