Rasta Pirate Posted May 7, 2006 #1 Share Posted May 7, 2006 Just trying to put together some sort of a plan for our day in Costa Maya. I used to read a lot of comments on this board about the Maya Palms Resort in Mahahul, but haven't seen it mentioned lately. Just wondering if anyone has been there recently & can tell me about their experience there. (ie: was it crowded or quiet? How was the food? the drinks? the service? the pool area? Is there a beach there? & if so how was it?) And approx. how long does it take to get there from the pier by taxi? (anything interesting to see along the way?) thanx very much for any advice. pjinaz Posted May 11, 2006 #2 Share Posted May 11, 2006 Hi, I think I answered most of your questions, under another thread that was called Cha Chin (?) or Maya Palms. I was at Maya Palms in March if that is recent enough. It was great, post with any other questions.
Rasta Pirate Posted May 17, 2006 Author #3 Share Posted May 17, 2006 Thanks pjinaz. Do you happen to have any photos from your day at Maya Palms? Would love to see some actual pics rather than their website professional photos. Many thanks. RP

zydecocruiser Posted June 11, 2006 #8 Share Posted June 11, 2006 I received this info when I emailed them last month: "Transportation to the Resort is easily obtained at the Port, just outside of the gate. A NEW Near Pier Cab stand is located only 200 meters outside the front gate of Costa Maya Pier. Walk 200 meters out side to the first plaza on the right, Plaza Las Fuentes adjacent to the Drinking Donkey Bar. You will see the bright yellow cabs. On the way to the exit you will undoubtedly encounter pushy sales people trying the best to persuade you to buy their ware and other offerings. A simple "No gracias" is usually sufficient, please ensure not to get trapped in discussions as you might miss your excursion's departure time or clandestine people will try to convince you to go with them in busses and overcharge you for the excursion. If you must ask for directions please only ask directions for the vans to Mahahual Town. WE DO NOT HAVE REPS IN THE PORT!!!! IF SOMEONE SAYS THEY ARE YOUR REP, ASK THEM IF THEY HAVE A MATCHING COPY OF YOUR CONFIRMATION OR SIMPLY WALK AWAY! The cost for the taxi to transport to Maya Palms Resort located at kilometer 9.5 from the Taxi Terminal (in case of any difficulties or questions once onshore please call 983-836-6292 from one of the payphone found nearby the taxi terminal) is $20us for up to 4 passengers one way. Taxis will be at hand to return to the Port for the same cost. Transportation costs are not included (due to Port Regulations) in the price of your excursion to Maya Palms transport costs are payable to the Van/Busses/Taxis at time of transport in U.S. cash currency only." rd0127 Posted June 19, 2006 #9 Share Posted June 19, 2006 We were at Maya Palms this past Friday. All 4 of us LOVED this place!!! :) Very quite and just loverall lovely! Our biggest fear was that we would get stuck there, with no way back to the ship if our cabbie did not return. We were assured by Pedro and Katherine that they would always take us back in the resort van if our cabbie did not show. Needless to say, that was a big worry off of our mind, but our cabbie did return, so we had worried for nothing. Our cab ride was $20.00 each way for all 4 of us combined. We thought is was very reasonable. Katherine is the owner of the resort and Pedro is a young man who works for her and checked us in. We thought that they were both just so friendly and welcoming and as I said earlier their resort is just beautiful in an old Mexico way. If you are looking for a brand new place then this resort is not for you. But, if you are looking for a quite, clean, beautiful place that feels like you have stepped back into old Mexico, then I cannot recommend this place highly enough! PERFECT!!! :) The only negative is their beach, it is not great, but they do tell you that up front. We really went there to enjoy the fresh water pool and were not interested in the beach, so we got just what we were looking for. As for getting there, follow their instructions and you will have no problems. We had a little communication issue with our cabbie originally, but we got it all worked out and we asked Pedro at Maya Palms to confirm the pickup time for us. It all went very smoothly.
