GAP-Group Amenity Points

Recommended Posts

Hey all,

Going on the Majesty of the Seas this fall and have gotten one more room to make us a group for this sailing!

I have now been told we get (4) GAP. (group amenity points)

Does anyone have a list of what you can get and how much each amenity is? I know there's got to be a list somewhere...

There are too many to list here. but here are a few examples

1 point-bottle of champagne

1 point-fruit basket

2 points-Beach towel

2 points-Five $5 casino vouchers

4 points-Wine and cheese tray

4 points-50.00 off each stateroom

This is per stateroom not per person

I know you can also use them for dinner in the speciality resturants. THere are fruit baskets, milk and cookies, wine, beach towels, slippers. Who ever you booked through should have the list of what is available and how many points.

What people don't understand about the GAP points is that they are meant for the TA's use. The TA can use it to send that bottle of wine to each stateroom, or offer that $25 onboard credit, or to book a cocktail party (if available), or any of the other amenities. It is her choice what to use the points for. She can use it to offer her clients 1 free berth for every 14 instead of 16. Or she can use it for a marketing fund (which is basically to help with her expenses she had to promote the group cruise).

Some TA's will ask you what you want to use your GAP points for, and some will just use them as she sees fit.

Also, not every sailing has GAP points. And not every sailing has the same amount of GAP points available.

The PDF link is meant for Travel Agents. And you will notice on that PDF link it states:

Now you can treat your group to valuable extras before or during their cruise. Royal Caribbean Group Amenities Plus (GAP) enables you to customize your group by offering a varity of amenities most valued by you and your customers.

You may use your GAP pints to recognize your clients or access Travel Partner benefits. Its EASY and flexible. Simply choose the amenity according to the terms offered by referring to the ship and sailing date you wish to book.

Each amenity listed below has a point value.

Then match these points to those offered on the departure you chose to create your valued customized amenity program.

Why would you post something that only TA's have access to? Not every sailing offers GAP points - you could start a huge problem posting this.

This was discussed at great detail several months ago !! This is a reference that you can get from your T/A. Please learn how to read !!!

creative.rccl.com is a public website. I browse it all the time for info & news. There's no secret about this info. If there was, they've certianly done a bad job of securing it for years now.

This is not true. Any group sailing gets GAP points. We we are a group sailing and as the group leader, I was given this list to decide what to give as amenities. You don't have to be a TA to get this list. Anyone can call the group desk, reserve a group sailing, and get a list of the points. Nothing wrong with posting this infor here as anyone has access to it via rccl.com

I AM a TA and that info is not supposed to be given to the public. If you read them, they are for the TA to use.

Then why was this info given to me? It is for group sailings only, and the group desk can give you the info just as easily as one can get it online. I am not a TA, and the group desk gave me this info when I called to inquire about booking a group cruise. As the group leader, I am the one who chose the amenities for our group. If you book a group through a TA, your TA will be given this info. If you book the group on your own, the info will be given to you. This is not a big deal people. No harm no foul.

You are absolutely correct FitzLA. I have had a TA keep my Gap points and never pass them on to me as the tour conductor. All I received were my free T/c's for that cruise. Well, I got rid of that TA in a heartbeat. I didn't just fall off a x-mas tree, I have cruised a lot, and also ran as tour conductor many times, to know what I should be receiving! Maybe this is a reason why the Ta's don't want the GAP list publisized..............icon10.gif

Actually, your statement is the one not entirely true. I've sailed as part of many groups that did not get amenties or these GAP points. Especially with Royal Caribbean. And yes, some doubtful members of our group (I think they hang out here too much), didn't believe my TA, and called the cruise line only to be told the same thing. Our sailing did not offer points. They vary by sailing.

That is correct - while most groups get them, many do not. That is why posting them can cause problems if you happen to get a group together and RCCL doesn't offer the Gap points.

I was going to say the same thing. TA's can keep the points and use them for themselves. They don't have to give anything to the customer. Or, if the TA is going on the cruise as well, the TA can use the points to upgrade to a suite. But then no one else gets anything. I was wondering why so many had a problem with this info being given out. Now I get it. Same with me, as a group leader, I could have used the points to upgrade to a suite.

If you were on a group that was entitled to GAP points, you SHOULD take it up with the TA and find out why the points weren't given out. Your group leader should have taken it up with the TA.

I have to agree about TA's keeping them - I know several TA's that do this and that just BURNS me. We NEVER do that - our clients get everything they are entitled to. But TA's that don't give everything to their clients give honest ones a bad name.

But everyone needs to know that not every cruise gets GAP points.

I just looked in my RCI Travel Agent guide and NOWHERE does it say that you cannot use GAP on all sailings. It does that the AMENITIES may vary by sailing, but not that they are not entirely available.

I am in the process of trying to put a group together for next year and our TA (who is also a dear friend) told us about it. We plan to give everyone money off including dividing up the free berth cost.

I don't see why cruisers who may be considering leading a group cruise should not be made aware that this program exists. How better to keep a TA honest than knowing all the facts yourself?

JMHO, YMMV
