Honest review of Wonder with no kids.

We have cruised on Carnival 6 times, RCL 3 times, once on Celebrity, and now once on the Wonder.

SERVICE-- Excellent, best I've seen.

Food--On par with Carnival and RCL, but not as good as Celebrity.

This was geared toward families with children.

No live rock band, no live regae band either, all pre-recorded music, which was kind of cheesy.

We found it boring, but the kids looked like they were having a blast.

We won't be back on Disney without a child.

Not much to do for couples without children.

We loved Disney and we do not have children.

We felt there were plenty of places just for adults and we enjoyed those areas as well as seeing the children enjoying themselves.

I think each cruise has its speciality and though RCL does cater to families....Disney is Disney

On Disney, I expect everything to be part of the Disney enterprise so to speak. :)

My wife and I did the Wonder as part of a group/event cruise. The trip was great and the ship was amazing...but I do agree with your post. Had we not had all the activities tied in with the group there would not have been near as much offered as there is on other lines

I'm curious what adult activities people like. I've cruised Carnival and Princess and really none of it appeals to me much. Occasionally, trivia, karaoke or deck parties maybe, but on the whole the activities seemed to be either blown off completely (literally no one shows up for it, crew-wise) or over-attended to the point of being unenjoyable. I'm not trying to be contrary. I'm curious if I'm missing something (besides bingo and art auctions and ceramics crafts) or if I'm just not much into group activities (which is entirely possible)! :o

I agree, after cruising many times, it seems that I find a lack of activity on all the lines ( I like non stop activity), it really isn't because there is no activity but it is because we have already done the same trivia, etc. I think they all offer similiar activity, pool games, etc.)

My husband (28) and I (31)/no children sailed on our first Disney cruise in Sept/06. We loved it so much we just booked another one for Sept/08. The level of service and attention to detail was great. We did not feel as if kids were overtaking the ship ;) . Disney has their own areas for adults and we did not feel as if the entire cruise was catering to children. There are many adult only options such as Palo (a true must do)!!!!!, adult only pool, adult only cafe and lounges. Even at dinner at the regular restaurants, we were not bothered by the pitter patter of little feet :) . It felt like we were at a regular restaurant back at home.

Are you on the9/27/08 by any chance?

Say, speaking of adult only lounges, are there any areas other than the pool, Cove Cafe, Palo that are adult only during the day? Our last cruise (on Celebrity) had tons of areas that were so wonderfully quiet that I am thinking that I don't remember areas like that on the Magic. Anyone remember any quiet areas (read: no noisy kiddos!)?

Let's face it, most people who love the adult activities on Carnival are not going to find much to enjoy on DCL. There are no hairy chest contests and if you are looking for a live rock band, the piano bar is no substitute. DCL is great for adults if your entertainment tastes are a little more refined/subdued. I'm past the party-til-you-puke stage and Carnival is just not enjoyable (don't like casinos, hate smoke, don't really dance much) but DCL is just right with quiet corners to snuggle in, elegant restaurant, trivia and such for entertainment. I thought that for 2 adults without kids, RCL was a better in-between and more affordable. But keep in mind, not all adults want a rave on their vaca.

One the Wonder you have the Rt 66 area. It's full of lounges and bars open only to adults. The Magic also has an area like this, but the name of it excapes me at the moment. They are both located at the front of the ship.

Is it Beat Street?

Are these only for adults during the day also? That would be great.;) We are not drinkers so hanging there at night would not appeal.

To be honest the only time I was in this area was during the day and I didn't see any kids there. I went into Diverisons. I checked out the Disney website and couldn't find anything that said adults only during the day. But it's considered an Adult only area, so I would think it would be day and night.

My wife and I didn't encounter any children in the quiet cove area. We also sat on the forward portion of Deck 10 for several hours one evening and didn't see any children.

One night we were up on deck 10 staring at the stars and a parade of kids in the kid's club came through, but the adult in the group said something like "Until we get past that wall up there, you have to remain quiet." Said wall being the plexiglass that divides the adult pool overlook from the family pool overlook.
