F'sted to Cane Bay to C'sted..taxi costs?

Hi all,

Will be coming to St. Croix in July and I'm trying to plan the day. I'm deciding between Cane Bay and Carambola Resort for the morning, then would like to go to Christiansted afterward to walk around and shop. For those on CC that live in St. Croix, does this seem feasible? Would you recommend Cane Bay or Carambola? (The plan there would be to swim, snorkel, and relax on the beach.) Also, any idea about taxi costs? Are there taxis at Cane Bay and/or Carambola Resort? Oops, one more question...how long of a taxi ride to Cane Bay from F'sted? Thanks so much!!

Beach time and then shopping sounds doable, but all depends on your hours in port and how much time you spend doing each. Cane Bay is good for swimming and snorkeling. Carambola is rocky on one part and sandy on the other; the sandy part is good for swimming if its calm. Carombola is great for just hanging out on the beach as it has a very tranquil tropical feel.

Taxis prices should be around:

Frederiksted to Carombola 1-2 people $27: 3+ people $11 each. OW.

Frederiksted to Cane Bay around 1-2 people 17.00: 3+ people $9 each. OW.

Cane Bay to Christiansted 1-2 people $24: 3+ people $11 each. OW

Carombola to Christiansted 1-2 people $30: 3+ people $12 each $12. OW

Christiansted to Frederiksted - 1-2 people $24.00: 3+ people $11 each. OW

At Cane Bay its likely that taxis will pass around since cruise ship passengers will be there but generally they are not just waiting around there. You may need to ask the bartender at the restaurant or the folks at the dive shop to call one for you. At Carambola, its a resort so generally there are a couple taxis waiting around and if not again you could have one called. Don't wait until the last minute to have one called though if you notice none are around because it will take time from them to come to you. In Frederiksted and Christiansted there are taxi stand areas.

And driving times: maybe 35 minutes from Frederiksted to Carombola and maybe 25 to Cane Bay. And then from those beaches to Christiansted, maybe also 30-35 from Carombola and 25 minutes from Cane Bay. And Christiansted to Frederiksted maybe around 30 minutes.

Can't stop cruising... the taxi rate sheet for St. Croix has a column for 1 or 2 people; and they have a per person column for 3+ people.

So for Frederiksted to Cane Bay: 1 or 2 people its $17.00 one way. And if the taxi has 3 or more people then its $9 each person one way.
