liberty080208 Posted September 2, 2009 #1 Share Posted September 2, 2009 Hi, We'll be sailing this Sunday the 6th on FOS, VERY EXCITED. We are renting a car on Friday in Orlando, and spending Saturday at Universal. We're staying at Wakulla Suites in Cocoa Beach Saturday night and returning the car on Sunday to Thrifty Rental Car at the Port. Has anyone ever dropped a car off at this Thrifty and do they have a shuttle to the RCCL termimal? And what are suggestions for when we return on Sunday? Is there transportation from the Port to Orlando Airport? Should we rent a car for 3 hours????
JanineM Posted September 2, 2009 #2 Share Posted September 2, 2009 You should probably check out this thread: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=436720&page=332 The folks there will answer all of your questions about rental cars. :) I don't have specific info on Thrifty, but think they are one of the agencies that will shuttle you from their office over to the port on our embarkation morning. As to the return, you could rent a car & if you have any extra time, run over to the beach or do some touring around. I personally think that it's probably cheaper to rent a car over taking a shuttle. But again, the folks at the "I Work At Port Canaveral" thread will give you good advice. Enjoy your cruise! We're following you in a week :D

Since you are apparently a "family" group, renting a car to return to Orlando Airport is the most efficient and cost-effective method, instead of another way. hazeleyez3 Posted September 2, 2009 #4 Share Posted September 2, 2009 We used Thrifty last year. Got the car, drove down to the Radisson at the port, checked in, and then went about our way. Embarkation day we (just 2 of us) went over to the port first and dropped off our luggage. We then dropped off our car, and then had their shuttle take us back to the port for the whole embarkation process. There are buses to the airport. We had a very late flight so we just rented a car and went about town before dropping the car at the airport. We'll be doing the same thing next year.
