Rare ohioNCLcruiser Posted September 7, 2009 #27 Share Posted September 7, 2009 Ships make zero money docked so they wouldn't cancel a cruise. My ship has been 100% full for months. In fact a nice break in high pax count would be nice for a week or two! :D
Cruzman Posted September 7, 2009 #28 Share Posted September 7, 2009 To answer your question.....in over 30 years of cruising' date=' individually, escort or hosting groups, etc., no major cruise company has cancelled because of low occupancy. As for the rest.....it's true that SOME cruise lines may be having difficulty filling ships, it certainly isn't the case for others..... Carnival for instance is still operating well within their average occupancy rate of 105-115% and Royal seems to be enjoying about the same.[/quote'] Correct me if I am wrong, but I seem to recall that Renaissance Cruise Lines had a habit of canceling cruises that were undersold. Of course they eventually went bankrupt.
