Bringing your own? Galveston

I was wondering if anyone has brought their own "Drink making materials" when leaving out of Galveston?

We packed the magic bullet, several rum-runners, and drink mixes with no problems at all. There's nothing like mixing a pina colda and sittin on your balcony. IMHO the magic bullet is well worth the money.:D

Is there any place to buy while we are down there and should we pack it in checked luggage or carryon? :cool:

There are several liquor stores on the island and wine can be purchased at the grocery.

However, Texas does not allow the sale of hard liquor on Sunday, only beer and wine and only after 12 noon. Liquor stores are open from 10am to 9pm, Monday through Saturday.

Checked baggage. We have never had a problem. Some porters walk the luggage through right to the ship. Carry on always goes through a scanner.

On a TA last year, a friend from Australia brought 24 bottles of wine and several bottles of liquor on board in checked luggage with no problems.

Just a friendly reminder that your alcohol can be confiscated and the cruiseline has the right to deny you boarding should they desire to do so. I think you're allowed to bring 2 bottles of wine per cabin aboard on Carnival but none on RCCL. I don't know of anyone that has been denied boarding but it does state that on your cruise docs. I think usually they confiscate it and make you come pick up your bags.

If you use Rum Runners in your checked baggage you should have no problem. They can be ordered on line and worth it.
