funboy247 Posted September 8, 2009 #1 Share Posted September 8, 2009 I´m on the Valor on 10/18/2009 for a western caribbean cruise. I heard something from a snorkeling tour on a lonely island (like Goffs Caye or Rendevouz Caye) Did anybody a snorkeling tour like this or recommend a similar? CRUISERTN Posted September 8, 2009 #2 Share Posted September 8, 2009 We have gone on the Goff's Caye snorkel tour....the little island looks like something from Gilligan's island....and about the size of a football field....nothing there but a few palm trees and a port-a-potty...you can snorkel from the boat and drift toward the island or just opt to snorkel from the beach.....we have been there twice and while there was somewhat of a current to try snorkeling from the boat, everyone opted to just snorkel from the beach and it was not bad. As you are coming toward the island in the boat, the best snorkeling is to the right side from front of the island to the back, and better toward the back right side.....wear water shoes, though, as it is shallow and lots of coral and rocks when you first get in.........lots of unique coral and fish. hbennett Posted September 10, 2009 #3 Share Posted September 10, 2009 The Goff's Cay snorkel is nice. The tour boat picks you up at the ship and brings you back to the ship. Snorkelers/passengers have the option of getting off on the island or continue on with the boat where they will take you out on the reef and drift back to the island. The guides will usually crack open some coconuts and/or conch for people to try. There was a local vendor on the island set up to sell refreshments and souvenirs. My wife accompanied me the last time because there just isn't much to do in the small port area. She said she had a nice relaxing time.
