sandy00039 Posted September 10, 2009 #1 Share Posted September 10, 2009 We will be driving to Galveston and am considering staying at Harbor House. We are all seniors and cannot walk to the pier. Will we have trouble getting a cab to and from the pier since this hotel is so close? Was thinking a cab may not want to take us since it is such a short distance. Galveston Cruiser Posted September 10, 2009 #2 Share Posted September 10, 2009 I would contact Harbor House and see if they could provide transportation. Making arrangements through them would assure transportation. It is not a question of a cab going a short distance, but all of the cabs are at the port picking up passengers. We gave up taking a cab years ago as they would never show and have friends take us (we live on the island)/
lovetexas Posted September 10, 2009 #3 Share Posted September 10, 2009 We stayed at harbor house and tried to walk... don't do it!! it was august in texas, exhaust fumes were strong, and the placed is packed!! I agree try to arrange transportation going to the port. Returning there were lots of cabs available.. Great hotel-- remember to get up early and watch ships arrive... ginag Posted September 11, 2009 #4 Share Posted September 11, 2009 We've walked and taken a taxi to the terminal. It is no problem getting a taxi either way!
sea_u_onboard Posted September 19, 2009 #5 Share Posted September 19, 2009 Do what we did. Jump the luggage and passengers then go back and drop the car. Without luggage it's not that difficult of a walk.
