Besides cave tubing, what is there to do??? We're interested in going to the beach or a casino. Any ideas??? Help!!! My husband wants to switch ships because of Belize and Roatan. Right now we're set to sail on the Valor May 29th.

I went to west bay beach in Roatan, and it is by far my favorite place! As for Belize, read on the ports of call board. I think I'm up for one of the ruins tours offered through the ship, but there's coral sands beach resort, or visiting a caye. There's tons of info to read about depending on what you want to do.

There are no casino's in Belize but there are plenty of beaches if you book an excursionto one of the cayes. There are no beaches in Belize City and most of the excursions are away from the city. DW and I have been on the Altun Ha/River Wallace excursion and the Belize Zoo excursion. I would recommend the Altun Ha trip to anyone interested in seeing ruins. Have a great trip. Be sure to take insect repellent and sunscreen.

We did cave tubing with x-stream and loved it in April. We were there again in Oct. and decided just to shop BIG MISTAKE. We went out side the fenced area and did not feel safe so went back to the fenced area. Not that much shopping to be done. If we go their again we will definetly book some type of tour.

The river/ruins tour was great, I'm going back in March and trying to book a snorkeling tour but the company I was booking with doesn't operate on the day we're there. So now I'm not sure what or who we are going to book with.

Princess Hotel and Casino in Belize was fun for us! We got a taxi driver at the port, and arranged for him to take us and pick us back up at the casino at a prearranged hour. I don't think the casino opened until noon, but we got there shortly thereafter, and within 2 hrs I won $900 at the $1 triple diamonds machine on the left wall as I walked in to the casino.

The Elation casino staff also showed up there (they're not allowed to gamble on the boat) so we ended up gambling with our dealers!!

The taxi arrangement turned out to be a blessing, because the taxi drivers waiting on fares at the casino knew I had won and were doing the "Hey, lady winner, want to take my taxi back to boat?" I was very thankful my 6'4" brother was along, and that our taxidriver was waiting for us. He said "They are with me, thank you." And off we went!

Y'all have a great time!! And good luck!!

We loved Belize. We took the Coral Breeze water taxi over to Caye Caulker and spent the day there. The boat ride over there in itself was fun....and our day on that little island was soo great! We rented a golf cart and drove around the island...went in a couple of shops....spent some time on the beach, went swimming and spent the afternoon at the split at a great little bar called the Lazy Lizard. It was such a fun~relaxing day...we didn't want to leave! I have some pics of Caye Caulker if you want to check them out...have fun!:D

Thank you for the responses! My husband was being such a baby about Belize!! I think we have some good ideas now. We might check out the Princess Casino--do they have blackjack?? Also Caye Caulker sounds like fun for us too!

Kristin--Thanks for the info about Caye Caulker. We enjoyed looking at your photos too. I think we may be going to the Lazy Lizard.....

Thanks for the information!

There IS a Casino in Belize. When we were coming back from the Shark/Ray Alley tour the tour guide pointed it out. It was the biggest building by far in that island (since it was also a hotel) the ship was only about 10 min. away from where we were. We saw it at the Mantanne (if that's how you spell it) Reserve. Belize is my favorite place. The people there are so nice. Go to Caye Caulker! If you go to Caye Caulker you will love Belize. I know if you do the Shark/Ray Alley tour they take you to Caye Caulker. But if there is a tour just to Caye Caulker then do it. It is great! Also, if your husband likes golf then he is in luck. Because Belize has a golf course owned by a millionaire on a private island. Movie stars go there. There is a tour that go's there. I can't think of the name of the guy who owns it. Some rich guy in Kentucky. But, there is a Casino. I hope you like Belize. Don't change yyour cruise because of this stop. Go to Caye Caulker and you will love it. Also, what I love about Belize is when the ship is leaving there is a bunch of little islands with just 1 or 2 palm trees. That's how you know your in paradise! The tour guides were very nice. This place was un-Belize-able. You have to see it to Belize it!

Jrmafia~ that golf course is soo amazing....we sailed by it on the way to Caye Caulker. I almost forgot about all of those tiny little islands, we saw so many of those on the way to the Caye! I remember seeing a *really* tiny one with a little house on it, and wondered who would live there? That's definitely paradise! Our boat ride over to Caye Caulker was half of the fun....there was a lot to see! It sounds like you loved Belize just as much as we did. We read/heard about so many people complaining about it and saying to stay on the ship, but, it's one of those places where you just have to get out there and explore...it's a beautiful place!

Chelsea~ if you decide to go to Caye Caulker just keep in mind it's not commercialized at all. (some people might be disappointed in that, but we loved it!) There are no cars, just golf carts.....it's just a little laid back island in the middle of paradise!:D

  • 2 weeks later...

We are arriving in Belize and have an outside tour scheduled to begin at 9:00am local Belize time which is US Central time. When the RCL Enchantment of the Seas arrives at 7:00am as stated in the itinerary is that local Belize time or still US Eastern time?

Any help from RCL passengers is really appreciated.

JudyF~ we went snorkeling in Caye Caulker, however, we didn't see much...I have heard the snorkeling in Belize can be amazing, I think we just needed to be a bit further out. (going out in a boat would probably be best for that) You can definitely swim, there is a beach area....we went down to the split and swam there.

If I remember correctly, the golf carts were $10 an hour....there is a little stand near where the water taxis drop you off.

kristineth, thanks for all the good info. We'll be in Belize in February on the NCL Sun and we're planning on going to Caye Caulker this time around. The last time we were in Belize we went tubing with Reggie...we loved that, but wanted to try something different. Did you keep the golf cart for the entire day or just use it for a couple of hours to explore? I've heard other people mention the Lazy Lizard...sounds like a winner.

lotro~ We rented the golf cart for about 3 hours.....you can drive around the whole island in much less time than that though; it's a very small place!! A golf cart really isn't that necessary, but it was fun to go beyond the "tourist area" (although it wasn't very commercialized at all....just a few shops and restaurants and bars...really local stuff which was cool!) and to see the whole island...the houses, hotels etc. It appears to be a fairly poor place ...the locals are sooo friendly and the water is beautiful! :D We had lunch at the Lazy Lizard and a few drinks. (a Lazy Lizard being one of the drinks and it was yummy!)

They have water taxis that take you over there, but the times were limited, so we chose to take the Coral Breeze water taxi....those guys were great, and we had more time on the island by using them. Have fun!:D

Thanks for the info. Kristen. After spending a lot of time on these posts today, I just booked through Coral Breeze the Shark/Ray Snorkeling and Caye Caulker Exploration Tour. Figure it covers a little of everything - 5 hours - just $69 each plus a 10% discount for booking 30 days early. We're sailing on the Carnival Miracle on February 13th - will be in Belize Friday (the last port). Can't wait - it sounds like a very reputable company, and the boat looks beautiful. Our other ports we'll go off on our own (Cemetery Reef in Grand Cayman where we've been twice before, Chankenab? in Cozumel, and we'll take a cab into Mahalual village & to the beach in Costa Maya). Belize seemed like a good one to do the tours, since it seems like you can't snorkel from the beaches. And this will probably be a lot cheaper and cover more than the ships tour. Again thanks to you and everyone on here for some really great info.!
