Snorkel in Montego Bay

We hope to be aboard the Conquest sometime in October and want to do as much snorkeling as possible. Can anyone tell us where to find the best snorkeling with lots of coral and fish? We want to make the most of the short time in port? Fees to get in? Closed any days? How far from the cruise dock these places are and what mode of transportation is best? We have our own gear and prefer to avoid the big cruise tour crowds but if unable to do snorkels on our own, any tours to recommend?

And, what is the weather typically like from early Oct - early Nov...prevailing winds, rains, clouds, water temperature?
