Utilize cruise transfers or taxi?

Trying to decide whether to stay at a Princess affiliated hotel pre-cruise and post-cruise or find our own and just taxi to pier and airport rather than having the transfers included with the Princess hotels?

Can anyone advise if there is a big advantage to the transfers?

We always use taxis because we like to make our own plans and do not like to wait for the cruise or their time schedules.

We always make our own arrangements. It gives us more flexibility and usually costs less, too!
