denmonty5 Posted September 15, 2009 #1 Share Posted September 15, 2009 I will be traveling on the Fantasy with a relative who has some mobility problems. Are Wheelchairs available in New Orleans for embarkation? How does this work - do we tip a porter to role her on the ship? Thanks for any hints. LornaT Posted September 15, 2009 #2 Share Posted September 15, 2009 Contact Guest Services at 1-800-438-6744 x70025 and they will send you a form to have filled out to return to them. They will make the request for Wheelchair assistance for boarding and debarkation. Carnival sometimes rents ($50 deposit off the Sail & Sign Card which is refunded when the wheelchair is returned) them for use during the cruise including use in the ports. If you don't have a handicapped cabin booked they will contact you once the form is returned to see if you need one or not. My Mom has one we bring with us for any kind of prolonged walking or standing needs and everytime they call me to let me know the cabin I have booked is not wheelchair accessable, I just tell them she can get around into, in and out of the cabin ........... but its nice that they do check. Sargent_Schultz Posted September 15, 2009 #3 Share Posted September 15, 2009 Carnival employees will roll them on at embarkation and off at disembarkation. I am not sure they will pick up before you get through the security check point on embarkation. At disembarkation, they will roll to your vehicle/taxi/whatever. Yes, you should tip.
