Where is the best place to snorkel on Grand Cayman?

I'm looking to do some (first time) snorkeling while visiting Grand Cayman. I don't want to pay a lot and I don't necessarily care about the stingrays. I want to see some coral and the pretty blue and yellow fish, etc. I prefer something shallow too... I'm too much of a chicken to go way out deep. Any suggestions?

On our first cruise 7 years ago we booked a trip on the ship that did 2 stops, a reef and a wreck. Both are located just off shore in the harbor. Having nothing to compare them with we really enjoyed them. I do not know which ship you are on, but I have seen the same trip on Nativeway and with Buccanner. If you have not snorkled, they will give you instructions. Please have a buddy that you check in with at every trip. I usually carry some cheese cubes to feed the fish and always have hundreds of them around me. Don't forget an underwater camera...Have fun...we love to snorkel and are booked on the Coral Princess for 1/17 for the Panama Canal and we stop in GC, too. We are going to try for the 3rd time to get to Stringray City. The water has always been too rough for us to go...

Here is a list of shore snorkel trips you can do on your own:

You might consider Eden Rock - an easy walk from the tenders.

I bring my own equipment, but you will need to rent and also some instructions would be a good thing.

I don't have experience with these people, but they are located at Eden Rock and have rentals, lockers and instruction available. Not sure about pricing, but you can email them for details. That would really be your only expense.

Don't forget a disposible underwater camera or three. Should be able to buy for less than $10 each. They cost more if you buy on the ship. If you can't find locally, amazon.com has an assortment.
