OverTheTop Posted September 20, 2009 #1 Share Posted September 20, 2009 Hi just want to make sure that I have my facts straight. This is what I have read from a search. When we board, after lunch at about 2pm kids club registrations will open. There will be information in our cabin with details about this. We need to take the kids passports and ours (or anyones who will pick them up) to the kids club. Is this right? Do I need the actual passports or is a copy ok? Do they take a copy, is it quicker if I already have copies? Is the paperwork to fill out in the cabin or at the kids club? Does it pay to be there early? Any other relevant info? Thanks Angela:D

I would take the originals of your passports but take a photocopy with you also so they don't have to copy it (just to save them a little time). Wow 4 days till your cruise you lucky thing. I wish I was cruising in 4 days ;). I hope you have a fantasti trip and look forward to reading all about it when you return.

thied Posted September 20, 2009 #10 Share Posted September 20, 2009 one would have thought that the cruise cards were enough to book our kids in and out , or for us to pick them up , as we dont need our pass port to get on and off the ship when we go the pacific islands, they should have a dinger at the kids clubs.:D:D:D
licra Posted September 20, 2009 #11 Share Posted September 20, 2009 Thied I would have thought that the photocopies of the passports were for security reasons, so they know who should and shouldn't pick up each child from the club- don't want kids going off with a stranger. ozzy_emg Posted September 21, 2009 #13 Share Posted September 21, 2009 have a ? why do you have to copy your pass ports? I always take a photocopy of my passport and all my travel documents when I travel. Just in case the original gets lost you have some idea of passport numbers, insurance policies etc. It just makes things easier if it is lost or stolen. From what has been said the passport is only for the first day when you register the kids, not for every time.

From what has been said the passport is only for the first day when you register the kids, not for every time. yes this is all great we do the same but what i have said or am saying it that once you are on the ship you dont need your pass port again on (most cruises), you cant get off the ship with out your cruise card and you cant get back on the ship with out a cruise card your cant buy any thing one the ship with out a cruise card,(except casino and bingo) so why would a cruise card good enough to stop unwanted people from getting on the ship in over sea,s ports and australian ports, but not good enough to collete your own children from the kids club. ( ding), :D we have never had to use our pass port on any P&O cruise we have done once we got our cruise cards and gone though custems at the cruise terminal to board the ship,:D( south pacific)

( ding), :D we have never had to use our pass port on any P&O cruise we have done once we got our cruise cards and gone though custems at the cruise terminal to board the ship,:D( south pacific) When you originally embarked on the ship you would have had to show either a passport (if leaving the country) or a form of national Id (eg licence) in order to get your cruise card and to get onto the ship. You will find if you had used the kids club that you have to show your passport/id in order for the child to be registered. I simply suggested they take a copy as well to assist the staff who have to keep a photocopy of the passport while the child is on the cruise and in the club - it saves time for the staff as registration is busy and hectic. The passport in the kids clubs is used for several different reasons : 1. To identify the child as the cruise cards do not have pictures on them (child passport). 2. Security for the parents who are picking up the children (adults passport). I for one am glad for the extra security and am pleased that no-one else can leave with my child. Brossy Posted September 21, 2009 #16 Share Posted September 21, 2009 I forgot to add one thing. On the Pacific Dawn they actually discouraged the children from bringing their lanyards and cruise card into the kids clubs (especially Turtle Cove) as it can be quite dangerous when playing, the children can loose them (easily replaceable I know but still .... ). OverTheTop Posted September 21, 2009 Author #18 Share Posted September 21, 2009 Thanks Rose no Cruise Cards - I wondered about that. Also can you tell me do the kids in Turtle Cove get in their pj's after dinner or do they all stay dressed and just crash when they want to. Don't want my kids to be the dorky ones in their pj's when no one else is. Are summer pj's ok for the kids? Thanks Angela

I hear you on the toilet training, we were getting anxious that our son would never get a grip on the "poo" situation. Thankfully he has surprised us and has decided the toilet is a much better option. We talked to him about Turtle Cove, showed him pictures etc and I think that helped to encourage (bribe) him to change his mind!:D When do you leave for "the big smoke" (Sydney)? At around 7pm they set mats up on the floor with blankets and the kids lie down an watch a movie. Most kids were asleep by the time we went to pick our kids up. The staff in Turtle Cove are wonderful. If you see Janeth she was our favourite and has been on our last 2 cruises.
LuckiePuris Posted September 22, 2009 #24 Share Posted September 22, 2009 Does it pay to be there early? Any other relevant info? Thanks Angela:D Hi Angela, From what I've read, you should try and register your children for the kids club as soon as possible once onboard as places are limited and to ensure you don't miss out. Hope you and your family have a fantastic cruise :)
Brossy Posted September 23, 2009 #25 Share Posted September 23, 2009 Hi Angela, From what I've read, you should try and register your children for the kids club as soon as possible once onboard as places are limited and to ensure you don't miss out. Hope you and your family have a fantastic cruise :) We registered our kids before muster and sailaway. It was busy but if you have all your paperwork filled out (the documents should be in your cabin) you shouldn't have to wait too long. They have all the children's names, cabins number, ages etc listed on a manifest so they will be expecting you. We went in school holidays and my kids never missed out on a place in the kids club but if there is an activity that appears to be popular i'd get there early just in case.
