We found that most reps with Verizon are confused about global usage. You really need to speak with a Verizon global rep who specializes in global communications.

Essentially, if you're on the ship or within 50 yards of the ship, you're on RCI's towers and you'll be charge RCI's usage rates, which are very high. So if you're standing on the ship or if you close to the ship while in port, you'll be on RCI's expensive rates. We've been told that the indicator on our phone (roaming signal) will change when we're off the ships towers. On her Blackberry Storm there is a roaming indicator which should let us know when we're on the ships towers or another tower in the country we're in at the time.
