using a global phone for e-mail onboard

We are planning on using our global phone from Verizon Wireless while onboard the Zuiderdam this month for calls, emails and text messages. We will have to pay the international roaming rates to Verizon, but will we also have to pay a fee to HAL for using it onboard, since it connects to the internet for e-mails?

We used our T-Mobile Blackberry with our International Data plan and did not pay any additional fee for email all through our previous cruises.

 

If Verizon has an International data add-on, I'd look into it if I were you :)

Same experience for me using my AT&T Blackberry - no charges from the cruise line

Thanks for the replies to my inquiry. Verizon does have an International Data Plan and we are going to add that on for the month. They should work the same way as the other wireless carriers do.

Got to keep in touch with the kids and grandkids! (And maybe inlaws.)
