Royal Caribbean Cruises and FOD

Hi guys, we have been on two Royal Caribbean Cruises in 2003, & 04, the Navigator & Mariner, on both occasions an FOD party was listed in our daily compass, which thrilled us, we met many people there, including a lot of the cruise staff & entertainment. A few of the Ice skaters and the piano bar attended, we probably had 25 show up...The 1st year we asked the cruise director for an FOD party which he put in the compass and last year it appeared on the first day.

We worked very hard to have a FOD on VOS last October. The cruise director wanted to very much and he was able to pull it off becasue his girl friend told him there were 100 of us in our group. He had to go through someone else, I think the hotel manager but don't remember who it was for sure. He said they don't do them any more. He was VERY gay friendly and worked at it. So I would encouge you to ask early. We also got to know the dancers and singers early on in the disco and that help some with making our case to him. They was 20 in our group so that did help some rather than just two of us showing up. They did do a very nice party for us. Two of the singers sang and they had a piano player. Good Luck!

In 2003 on the Serenade Transatlantic someone requested a FOD Party at Guest Relations. They were told no. When the CD found out that guest realtions said "no" he was not happy. We had two parties and the CD was at both of them (HUMM). I don't recall his name, but the CD has a lot to do with what happens on a ship. If they want a FOD Party, there will be one, if the CD doesn't want one, there won't be one. Don't give up 'til you talk to the CD and if he says no you're pretty much out of luck. Not fair, but that seems to be how it falls out.

We'll be sailing this year on Oct. 9 on Mariner of the Seas, hope there is a good group of family on there!
