A private charter (small group) or public (large group) fishing trip?

I don't know, I didn't know public trips were even available. Are they quite a bit cheaper? Seems like all the webistes I've looked at are priced at $550+ for a half-day trip. Thanks!

Thanks ssb! I'm not sure how much he wants to spend or how he'd feel about being on a boat with that many others. 100 person capacity? That's a lot of hooks flying around, lol! What are your suggestions for smaller groups, if I may ask?

Please just remember that to really go 'deep' sea fishing you have to go at least 60 miles offshore. That is usually why they seem a bit more expensive. The fishing just offshore is pretty good, but don't expect to catch anything really large. Have a great time whatever do.

They are both based out of Pier-19 over by the Harbor House. I havent gone in several years so not sure how things are. Last I heard RED SNAPPER season was closed & wasnt forecast to open for awhile. That is what I like to catch.

Really depends on what trip you take. I have been thinking about doing one of the 36hr Tuna trips. They go out about 200 miles & you get lots of good fish. Most Offshore trips is Ling, Drum, Grouper, Sharks etc. Bay trips arent worth it in my opinion. I have done a couple when the waves were too high for offshore & they all sucked.
