Miami Hotel Near the Pier for Early Boarding

Hi - Am flying into MIA the day before my cruise on the Liberty of the Seas with Royal Caribbean. I would love recommendations of 4 or 5 star hotels near the Miami pier. I am looking for a nice hotel in a relatively safe area (female traveling solo). I want to board the ship as early as possible, so that's why I'd like to be near the pier. Thanks in advance for any help.

 

Also, what is the earliest I should show up at the pier? It looks like around 10:30 from what I've read here.

10:30am is good, under normal circumstances boarding usually begins around 11am or so.

South Beach is only 15 minutes from the port, and is a much nicer place to stay than in downtown Miami. There's much more to do, plus a lot of shopping, world class dining and the area is much safer to walk around in.
