Stingray tour for handicapped?

I am traveling with someone who has no problem walking but has a hard time with high steps. are the ladders on the boats easy to get on and off? I was just wondering if they went all the way down in the water like a pool lader or if they were the dangly kind that you had to pull yourself up on. any info would help.

The boat we were on at the Stingray sand bar had a sort of ledge or large step at the back of the boat. I remember a large step down from the deck of the boat to that ledge and then jump into the water from the ledge. I sort of climbed back up on the ledge from the water and then stood up to take the step back up to the deck.

I think, but I'm not positive, that all the boats there that day were similar. I hope this helps.

I would think the ladders on the catamarans might be the hardest if for no other reason than you most likely will have more steps to climb. Not sure how deep into the water they go.

I think all would be rigid. I would think that for all of the powerboats the crew would be more than willing to help someone up.

As far as going down, I just jump. If you don't want to do that, you can sit on the edge and push yourself off. For that matter, I jump of of catamarams, also, but most go down the ladder.

Here are pictures of the ladders on Soto's cruises. They swing down into the water. The are also free to swing back and forth in the water, so if the seas are rough just keep your eye on them when getting out. Once your weight is on them, they don't move, but they could swing out and whack you in the shins. Not hard to prevent them from doing that - just don't get in front of them until you are ready to step up and out. You can download the photos if you want them whoppersized...
