TheYankeeCruisers Posted November 11, 2009 #151 Share Posted November 11, 2009 I was getting nervous for a second, but when we sail out this coming Sunday we'll be in room 9060, not 9560 I guess we should play 960 somehow in the casino You're right across the ship from the cabin she was allegedly trying to get to though, 9560...she on the port side - you on the starboard...and if she made it down the hall one deck up to visit the OP you might just bump into her anywhere anyways! You might want to stay away from the "Murder Mystery" specialty dining this trip! At least she's happy, if taking "free style cruising" to new limits.:o
TheYankeeCruisers Posted November 11, 2009 #152 Share Posted November 11, 2009 Is the picture of the girl an actual photo or one of those crazy halloween pop up monster things? The link doesn't open for me. I found the link didn't work. Just go to the NYPOST website and search for ship slip hard to fathom. That will bring up the article that sites the cabin number and shows the picture.

jkloni Posted November 21, 2009 #155 Share Posted November 21, 2009 Back from our repo and the cruise was just fantastic. Thankfully no sightings in my cabin 9130. Our friends in 8106 after that worldwind of activity the first nights had 2 others that first week. It was so bad that the girl wanted to come sleep in our cabin. I sat her down and told her that if she sees anything just tell it to 'Go away! - Leave my cabin!'. And that whatever she sees cannot hurt her. She was really upset. (all this sound silly now, but it wasn't to her.) But then everything stopped. (thank goodness, because I'm telling you she was ready to leave the ship or move cabins). Even the guy in the cabin who is a skeptic was edgy. But then it all seemed to be forgotten. I didn't hear of any other sightings. But we really tried not to talk about it because the girl in 8106 was really freaked out. Kathy
AuntieBarb Posted November 21, 2009 #156 Share Posted November 21, 2009 We were in cabin 10622. We did not experience any sensations of anyone present in our cabin, sitting on our bed or see shadows or ghostly images during the repo cruise. But.... One night, after DH had gone to sleep and I was watching some late night TV, I noticed something out of the corner of my eye towards the balcony door. At first there was a very small glimmering light, but then they started to increase. The end result was an aura, clearly outlining the head, right shoulder and arm of someone...a spirit/ghost...I don't know. I said "Mindy?", simply because of the reportings, but it then disappeared in an instance. It was the most awesome thing I have ever seen. DH is skeptical. I believe! saleandsail Posted November 23, 2009 #158 Share Posted November 23, 2009 I was recently on the Dawn repo cruise. One night I was in my cabin and was switching channels to watch the football game. All of a sudden I looked up and saw an apparition. It snatched the remote out of my hand and put on Fox News. I tried to grab it back, and we wound up wrestling for it. It was too strong for me, so I started yelling for it to put on the football game. My wife, who had been in the bathroom, heard the commotion and stepped into the cabin; with this, the spirit disappeared. My wife asked what happened. When I explained, she said, " You didn't stand a ghost of a chance." :D

Tideone Posted November 23, 2009 #160 Share Posted November 23, 2009 We will be going on the Dawn for the nine day cruise on December 18 and I am looking forward to seeing if I can see any ghosts... Coka had told us to look for the spirt on the Spirit before our cruise last April and although we didn't see one, we did have an encounter with one... Like a previous poster, we too heard the story of the ghost on the Spirit and talked to several crew members who had seen this ghost... However, our ghost haunts the aft of the ship, which included our cabin... One afternoon we were sitting in the cabin when the doorbell rang... when I opened the door, I noticed the woman in the cabin down the hall from us was also looking out her door. She asked me if my doorbell had rung and I told her it had... from our cabins you can see all the way to the other end of the ship and there was no one in sight on either hallway... When I said something to our cabin steward about it, he then told us about the ghost, who he has had several encounters with... One time he had finished cleaning up the cabin and had closed the door when he remembered he forgot to do something... when he opened the door and walked in he found one of the living room chairs (this was a suite) had been turned towards the balcony window... he said he got a rather eerie feeling and left the cabin as quickly as he could... He also opened up a cabin when it is empty to find the lights on, things have been moved around, other than the furniture... We had no encounters on our last cruise on the Sky but I did have an encounter with a spirit named Robert when he stayed at the Artist House in Key West after our cruise. Robert is a doll, who haunts this bed and breakfast... I got up during the night to go to the bathroom and as I was coming back to bed, I was violently hit from behind and knocked into the bed... We stayed two more nights but he never bothered me after that...
KevinsCruising Posted November 25, 2009 Author #161 Share Posted November 25, 2009 I have never been on the Spirit except for a lunch and ship inspection. I may have to look further into booking the Spirit and maybe see a SPIRIT!

coka Posted November 26, 2009 #164 Share Posted November 26, 2009 (edited) I was almost finished writing a ghost story about my deceased dad on this thread and my computer shut off. I think that is scary. TideOne, dolls are creepy! I never liked them after watching Night Gallery when I was a little kid...ever see the doll with the teeth that came to life? asylum575 Posted November 26, 2009 #165 Share Posted November 26, 2009 (edited) We were on the Spirit in August 07. We sailed out on Sunday and my father passed away on Monday. Starting Monday night I had this horrible feeling for the rest of the cruise. I never get seasick. I've owned boats for 15 years. It was the wierdest feeling. I didn't find out about his passing until after we returned. None of my siblings knew as I was the next of kin on everything. We had to return to Fl and make arrangements to bring him up to NY. I always felt something odd about the feeling and his passing. Maybe it was the Spirit's resident ghost following me around. slotaddict Posted November 27, 2009 #167 Share Posted November 27, 2009 I was on the Spirit in 5/08 balcony cabin on the 9th floor - no ghost sightings - however the Dawn was behind us, it was a crazy Nor'easter, very rough seas - the crew told us of the girl who went off the balcony on the Dawn -
slotaddict Posted November 27, 2009 #168 Share Posted November 27, 2009 Its great that you remembered that. Maybe if you are open minded to the experience, it may start again. You know I think I am open minded - if it happened again I think I would embrace it - I think as a kid I had a kind of a sixth sense - no so much as an adult, but I'll bet the believer is still in me.... By the way - Happy Thanksgiving to all the ghost hunters on this thread...

dcruiser9 Posted January 5, 2010 #171 Share Posted January 5, 2010 I was on the Dawn for a two week repo cruise in November 09. I knew nothing about apparent ghosts on the ship. I awoke one night and saw two people in my room in front of the little table and tv motioning me to come with them. I closed my eyes and opened them again and the ghosts were still motioning me to come with them. I started screaming at the top of my lungs terrified. I woke my roommate up, scared him to death he turned on the lights and nothing was there. I started crying and laughing at the same time. The next day we all got a good laugh up at pool deck and I was then told about the ship being haunted. I have never believed in ghosts before. But Im a believer now. The ghosts made several more night appearances. And we had friends down the hall that said their bathroom door opened every morning at 6am. We were in stateroom 8106, and my name believe it or not is Dawn!!
sillysailor 1955 Posted January 5, 2010 #172 Share Posted January 5, 2010 I am not sure why this thread hasn't been shut down... I refer to the poor woman who died in May 2008. I don't see how someones death could be the source of bad jokes and silly posts. Disgraceful.

Kathy I have no doubt as I do believe somewhat in the supernatural... I do think all the bad jokes, etc. are very disrespectful, after all this woman has a family. Again this is just my opinion.
