1st time cruising - have a couple ?'s

WE are going on a 4 day cruise on Carnival Elation. I have ready on these threads that plenty of people bring there own wine and alcohol on board with them. Is that a problem. I read on carnival website that you can only bring 1 bottle of wine per person and no alcohol??????

Second question is my husband likes to have an occasional cigar while on vacation - especially while drinking - is smoking allowed on the ship? We are in a penthouse suite with private balcony - can you smoke on the balcony?????

Thanks for any input

That is correct about the alcohol. It is against the rules to bring your own but some people have found creative ways around that. All of the ships I have been on have a cigar bar. There are several smoking areas on board so your hubby should be fine.

We usually take our favorite box wine in a carry-on with no problem.

Just ask on board where the accepted places are for cigar smoking. Also, they usually announce a smoke-out at the end of the cruise for those who bought cubans while on the cruise.

Your Capers (which is the daily news you receive in your cabin) will have the designated smoking areas. Here's a link to one http://travel.webshots.com/photo/2191011430102209388iImLJp

Normally cigar smoking is only allowed in the cigar bar, but I don't think this ship has one and I don't see mention of it in the capers.

You most certainly can smoke on your balcony. Please remember not to throw anything overboard. My husband uses a "butt bucket" we bring from home. It contains the butts and ashes and cuts back on the smoke.
