Virginoftheseas Posted September 15, 2011 #26 Share Posted September 15, 2011 I just feel bad for those who don't have personal computers to do detailed research like the rest of us. Especially those who don't even think about things like this when talking with the TA or cruiseline and might be able to get information about groups onboard if its available. TravelRocker Posted September 16, 2011 #27 Share Posted September 16, 2011 I think you might just find it a very interesting component to your cruise, "Shiprocked"! I am booked on another Rock and Roll cruise next year called "Monsters of Rock" and am just counting down the days. You will find most rock and rollers NOT to be like those you see on so-called Reality shows on TV. They are scripted and exaggerated for the Tube. Most rockers are just like you and me, considerate, kind and friendly. You can get drunks at family reunions too you know. Go with an open mind and have fun, it's a HUGE ship! Kate0330 Posted October 23, 2011 #28 Share Posted October 23, 2011 I am shocked by how judgemental and prejudiced some of the people who posted above are. Just because we are fans of rock music you assume that we will act a certain way and we will ruin your vacation! You assume that we are drunks and drug users. This will be my fourth time on Shiprocked and everyone who I have met on these cruises are great people, and they are "normal" people just like you. One of our best couple friends who we met on this cruise are a police officer and a school teacher. Another person we know who goes every year is a nurse. I am a working professional and a mother of a six month old baby. I drink moderately and my husband doesn't drink at all. We don't do drugs or dress like porn stars. I agree..... last year we saw no drunken youths, the 'shiprocked' passengers varied in age from 20's to 60's. The entertainment was confined to 1 or 2 venues a night, with a couple of short daytime concerts on the stage by the pool... which we could hear from our balcony, but it wasn't a problem. As I'd stated before, the Shiprocked people made for some interesting people-watching.. There was more than enough entertainment for us oldies...some great shows.... I wouldn't hesitate in booking the same time as Shiprocked again!!!
jeande607 Posted October 25, 2011 #32 Share Posted October 25, 2011 We were also surprised to find the Shiprockers on the cruise. I am also a TA and was interested in sailing another line. We are looking forward to the Poesia and exploring a different ship. The "rockers" are not going to ruin our cruise...just add some more topics of conversation. We are sailing with two 23 year old boys and they are excited. This is going to be a great cruise....lots to do and a beautiful ship from what I have seen on the pictures. The cruise is what you make of it...if you don't have a good time it is your own fault. Some people are never happy and can always find something to complain about. I agree it was not MSC's responsibility to tell us it was a "Shiprock" cruise. I think we will be fine.....enjoy the cruise. Looking forward to meeting everyone
NJGRANNY Posted October 26, 2011 #33 Share Posted October 26, 2011 We booked a cruise on Costa and it turned out there was a large group of ballroom dancers on board. We enjoyed watching them so much that we tried to book their cruise this year. Alas - they opted for a land vacation.
