Iowaflatlander Posted January 7, 2005 #1 Share Posted January 7, 2005 My wife and I (from Iowa) would like to pull our 5th wheel (36') with our 1 ton pickup to Tampa. Then go on a cruise out of Tampa. Where is the best place to leave our "rig" while we are on a cruise?
bambam Posted January 7, 2005 #2 Share Posted January 7, 2005 Don't know if this helps, but there is parking available on the port itself...for more info, go to: http://www.tampaport.com/admin/documents/Directions.pdf
tadjr Posted January 7, 2005 #3 Share Posted January 7, 2005 Where are you going to be staying before/after the cruise? Maybe find a place to stay a couple of days and then see if they might let you leave it there while you cruise if they have the room. This might be a better deal than trying to find a parking garage or hotel that you can leave it at. See if some of the RV parks in the area will accommodate you. Here is the website of the biggest RV center in the area, maybe they can advise you of something (or they might have storage?) http://www.lazydays.com/ Here is a site with some local parks. Maybe they can give you some good advice as well. http://www.rvonthego.com/Tampa-Area-53-7.htm Sorry cant give better advice, but not sure where else to look at this point. Iowaflatlander Posted January 9, 2005 Author #4 Share Posted January 9, 2005 Thank you tadjr and bam bam. we are thinking about staying at a campground before and after the cruise, or at the sailboat house?
Iowaflatlander Posted January 9, 2005 Author #5 Share Posted January 9, 2005 Tadjr, found a place to park the camper and pick-up in Dover, FL. for $5 a night. not sure what Dover has to offer or what kind of place it is? Any ideas? Does anyone know what terminal in Tampa Royal Caribbean uses?
tadjr Posted January 10, 2005 #6 Share Posted January 10, 2005 http://www.city-data.com/city/Dover-Florida.html General info on Dover. It is mainly rural and will be fairly quiet probably (unless you're staying around one of the local establishments. ;) It is mainly strawberry/tomato fields with some housing mixed in. It is close enough to Brandon/Plant City and Tampa that you shouldnt be more than 30 mins or so from anything you might need or want. RCCL uses the new terminal 3 in Tampa afaik. Thats where we came in on the transatlantic. Carnival uses terminal 2, Celebrity 3 and Holland terminal 6 or 7 whatever the "other" old terminal is.
