sbfanatic Posted October 30, 2009 #1 Share Posted October 30, 2009 We will be in Puerto Vallarta on Splendor on Friday January 8th. We arrive at 10am, and depart at 10pm. Interested in whale watching, any suggestions?
bzy1 Posted October 31, 2009 #2 Share Posted October 31, 2009 There are plenty of companies who offer whale watching excursions but the key is to make sure you go with one that is not only licensed but has well trained staff/biologists and a good boat set-up for whale watching. You do NOT want to go on a "party barge" that offers whale watching during the season...these are not whale watching excursions but tour companies looking to make an extra buck and only offers a pathetic tour that is often disruptive to the whales and their calves. Your ship will offer good solid and reputable whale watching tours. Be careful when booking on your own, do research what company is good.
heyjude27 Posted November 3, 2009 #3 Share Posted November 3, 2009 Hi, To answer your question about a tour that will find you whales -- try WildlifeConnection.com. I went out with Eduardo on his boat for almost three hours to find the dolphin group he is studying. He does not feed them to lure them in. He's a marine biologist and serious about his work. He finds the animals and lets you drop in. Not a touristy tour. It's not high priced. In the winter, he focuses on whales. Have fun. Judy
